Pulling roots

I recently cleared a field of oak and fur trees buy pushing them over with an excavator . Now I have lots off roots to clear above and below the surf use . What is the best 3 point attachment to clear the roots? Thanks Pete

your best bet would have been to keep the excavator a little longer I think...!

Other's here may have a better suggestion, but all I can think is that you need to deep plough (moldboard plough) to get the rest of the buried root to the surface, and then try to collect the bits with a land rake or similar...

Do you have enough tractor power to use a multipoint ripper bar?

I've used both a single shank ripper and a bucket tooth bar to dislodge broken roots before.

Caught plenty with both a rototiller and moldboard plow too but not intentionally

I use the rippers on my boxblade. I set them deep and usaully turn them in reverse and backup,not always,but its easier to push the roots up in a pile and clean your rippers out if there backwards. Hope this helps. LUTT:thumbsup:

Use a root grapple. It's what it's designed for. It has many other uses after you are done clearing the land too. Watch Ted in action here:How To Use A Compact Root Grapple - YouTube

Everything attachments also has a new "in-house" grapple that looks pretty good.

Thanks for all the responses with some great suggestions . I'm new to this site and I'm glade I found it. Soon as the weather breaks I'll give some a try.
