Bob, if we can't get a decent price on a machine here in the NE, we AT THE VERY LEAST deserve sympathy and LOTS OF IT.

I've done a lot of self-policing in the form of sparing the TBN world details about run-ins with local dealers and their attempts to gouge me to the poor farm. I'm so tired of it I can't even begin to tell you.

I can tell you that the closest NH dealer will sell me a TC24 with loader and R4s, HST for not a pennly less than 13.8k. I haven't gotten a lot of quotes on that class machine however

How bout this. (Quotes 18 months old) ... B2910 with LA402, Loader for 21k, delivered. Or a TC30 HST with 1703 loader and R4s for 18.4k. LOL... that's the economy class machine!

So for the thousands of posts I've read where people are waxing on about their local dealer support being so important, I have to bite my tongue, because in truth, I have no local dealers [who play fair].

This pricing model here in the NE is due in large part to the following IMO.

1. Nearly total loss of AG profits dut to sprawl and the desctruction of the American Small farm.
2. Surge in landscaper/contractor/developer consumers who can AND DO easily pass their operating expenses along to the consumer.
3. Regional COLA (Cost of Living Adjustments) in the souther tier of NY state. Remember, I am only 50 miles from the most dense, complex, populous, politically robust city in the western world.

Reason No. 2 above MOSTLY dictates why I cannot go to a local dealer and expect a North Carolina price on a machine.

I will have to buy either out of state, or upstate 150 + miles away.

So, if you are MERELY getting started to feel sorry for the NE pricing model, get with the program and graduate to offering some sort of veritable sympathy, pity even.

If the reality of this weren't so sad, this would be really funny. I guess it's that way with all things, not just tractors.

Doug, for 21k that sounds like a heck of deal (for the dealer!). Heck, I didn't know mine has appreciated in value so much over the last 4 years!

Forget the pity, and even the sympathy, you guys up there are getting what you deserve, and I cite Hillary as a prime example /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

(OK that was a cheap shot, but I couldn't resist)

Pointing a shameful finger wagging to you Bob, you should know better than to introduce any political element into this forum.

As apolitical as I can be however, I'll remind you that the former first lady is one of the least popular persons in the empire state. She was only minimally more popular than the incumbent she defeated. Being married to slick willy affored her the minimum amount of 'sympathy' votes to carry the day.

She is widely referred to as the 'carpet bagger' here - now you are informed from a man on the ground.

I, having been born and raised in the mid-west however, your general apathy bordering on hostility for the New Yawkers is totally inline with any reasonable expectations.

Doug, I know people in NY who not only like Hillary, and voted for her, but actually campaigned for her! I get into Johnstown and Gloversville every now and again. The 2 guys I do business with are both critical of the lady carpetbagger, but both of the wives seem smitten with the smartest woman in the world! Then there is my friend in Manhatten (who hates the b...h) and my sister, also a Manhatten resident, avoids talking politics.

As I do spend time in your state, I think I am qualified to call 'em like I see 'em. You guys allow the indian reservations to destroy the local tax paying gas stations & c-stores by selling gas & cigarettes without paying taxes to the tune of about $1 Billion a year in lost revenues, then you all complain about budget shortfalls??? Pataki is a moron and don't get me started on Bloomberg!!!

Both parties in your state are pretty much worthless!!! But hey, you can always raise your taxes (again & again & again).

Although I'm always good for a discussion about politics, I'll voice my opinion on the CK 25.

I ended up going with the CK20H but would have liked just a little more. That is probably the target market for the CK25. I was aware of the CK25 when I got the CK20 but my idea of more was only in the HP arena. I think the CK25 would have been much better on the CK20 frame instead of the CK30 frame.

I DEFINITELY would have gone with the CK25 if its footprint were no bigger than the CK20. As it stands now, I think the CK25 is a little underpowered pulling that big frame. I did drive a CK30 and wouldn't want anything less than that to pull that big frame.

Robert, from the pricing I have seen posted, a New Holland TC24 is about $300 more expensive than a CK20. That works out to $100 per each added HP, which is not too bad. The TC24 is about 300# less in weight than the CK20 (if I remember correctly) so it is still a modestly heavy little tractor. And the footprint is about the same as the CK20. All that said, I totally agree with you about the CK25 missing the mark with too much size for the weight and hp, and thus I think it ends up yielding too little PTO hp for the overall size of the machine.

Ahh.. I had already posted above when a bit of marketing magic hit me.

They could have probably struck gold using the 25 as a crossover. Make it available as a CK25 or CK25HST each with a -L or -S designation for large frame or small frame.

Dunno.. maybe I'm off base... now that I think about it... as their line up is right now, it seems like the CK25 is outcast of the bunch with everyone opting for either the CK20 or CK30, where in my proposed line up I would see the CK20 as the outcast with everyone opting for the CK25 small frame or the CK30.

Robert, take a look at the line up from JD, Kubota, New Holland and Case. Each of those has a small frame tractor available in both the 20/21 hp and the 24/25 hp ranges. I think that some people would opt for a CK20 even if a CK25 was available as a small frame machine.
