Pulling the Pants down on the CK25

( But the thing that really bothers me is that this "debate" has started to deteriorate to include personal attacks. Quite honestly, I believe that both of you guys are above that. )

I agree, Garry. I guess I have a hard time understanding why someone would get upset over a differing opinion. Anyone is free to disagree with my opinions. After all, it doesn't cost me a nickel if someone disagrees, so there's no reason for me to get mad at them. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

And as for the brand wars, I've got my preferences like anyone else, but I sure don't care if someone else buys other brands. After all, if everyone wanted the same things I do, the prices on my favorite brands would probably go up when the competition was gone. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I don't care what anyone else buys either, and all I said when this got started was to suggest that the lack of having used the certain tractor may be why the posters feel the way they do about the tractor. No attack, not criticizing, but that's the way it was taken and then I was attacked by B.Shurka. Of course, then that led to defense on my part.
I simply gave my opinion about not knowing what a tractor will do unless the person has USED it. If that's an attack, or criticism, I may as well give up.

KiotiJohn said: Could be the problem is that neither of you has ever used the CK25 to do anything. People who own and use them are telling another story. I'll certainly take their words for it, since they have the experience to tell.
As I've stated before, I've used the CK25 and don't find what the armchair quarterbacks find. John

John - this is an honest question and not intended to be a flame. I have no dog in this race and don't intend to get in the middle of it. My question is: How much work have YOU done with the CK25? I don't mean driving it around the dealer's parking lot, I mean work. You have attacked Bob's position as not credible because he has not used a CK25, therefore making his opinion on it invalid. I'm curious how many hours you have in the seat of a CK25 that make your opinions of it correct and his wrong. Not what you've heard from others, I'm interested in actual experience that validates your assertions and renders the "inexperienced" on this machine incorrect.

By the way, I have a friend who intends to purchase a CK25 this weekend.

Hey Bob, sometimes I agree with you sometimes I don't. I've never operated a CK 25 or 30 so I feel I am unqualified to even offer an opinion about either one (except that they look cool).

But on the other had....

I think that this is the most posts I've ever seen you put in with touting the benefits of HST over everything else...

Bird & Garry, I think the delivery is almost as important as the message. If I was an Eskimo in the dead of winter and Bird offered to sell me ice cubes, I bet I would by them.

Sadamo's comment, I'd be really hesitant to decide on the CK25 and then post that decision here and have to defend it. Concerns me. I was thinking the same thing.

I sincerely hope no one feels intimidated to post about their tractor buying experiences for concern of being ridiculed.

rtimgray, that is an interesting observation. Bob S. accounts for about 24% of all the posts in this thread.

I tried out the CK25 at my dealer's. I put it through some tests against a barrier to see how much it would take to lug it down, which gave me a good idea of how it would haul implements. Unfortunately it didn't yet have a loader on, but that didn't hinder my ability to see the power of the machine. It lost traction long before it lugged the engine in the least. I ran it through all the 3 ranges, and it performed much better than I thought it would.
I can respect someone's opinion when they have tried out a machine, even, "just driving it around the dealer's lot" than I can someone who bases his/her judgement soely on specs. I learned a long time ago that specs don't tell the whole story, it's the whole machine and how it performs that tells the tale. Usuing a line such as Bob did, "I also don't need to be poked in the eye with a sharp stick to know that I don't want to try it." is a red herring and doesn't connote to how a machine will perform based on reading the specifications.
I've been accused of being a "cheerleader" for only my brand, but in over all the posts I've made, I've often recommended another brand or cheered someone on their choice of another brand. Anyone that wants to point out the truth, and has read my posts over a long period would know this and not use it to insult me and attempt to undermine my stance.
That I disagree with someone's opinon should not lead to name calling as it did in this instance. John

Hi Guys,
Well I have been sneeking a peek on tractorbynet on the backshift at work and for a few minutes before I go to bed at night after I have been out all day campaigning for my second job (gotta pay for my toys) Municipal Councillor and been watching this thread and I can't sleep (it's 4am) I will just give my review on my CK25 and I can only compare it to a 24 hp '89 kubota I borrowed from my neighbor a couple of times appears to have the same juice. That borrowing gave me tractor fever - every time I borrowed it my temperature would go up I believe caused by jealousy. This is the website that helped me buy the right machine for me, regardless who says it is not enough hp or the machine weighs too much - I didn't buy the machine for anyone else but me and I can say it was the most valuable purchase I have ever made next to my home. I can do lots of bush hoggin, roto tillin, cuttin grass with my rfm, and plenty of digging with my new tooth bar(best $400 option yet). On the issue of criticizing the CK25 don't knock it till you tried it. On the physical size I think its is a beautiful machine and the weight certainly helps the hp when it comes to digging. I love my CK25 - don't care what anyone else thinks.
I took the day off from campaigning on Sunday,my brother in law had his yard filled in and forgot they covered over his pipe outfall for his weeping tile around the basement. We are now looking for it. This was very heavy fill with some very large rocks. Took me about 3.5 hours and loved every minute of it. I think I could have dug a hole for a new basement. I love my CK25 (did I already say that?)

I will post a few pics. Happy tractoring. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
