pulling well pump, no pitiless adaptor?

I see Finley Well & Pump still is in business in Bellville OH - If this is likely the driller a call to them on Monday AM about this might be time well spent.

The "hex" nut may be a pulling point or an older pit type adapter, but I used pitless adapters in PA in the late 70's.. so they should have too.

Interesting, a licensed driller installed the pump and no pitless. Don't understand that at all. I'm puzzled.

Had the same guy who put the well in back in 85 put in the mew pump. cost me more than I was indicated it would. 1400 with new pump and 54feet of line. old pump was put in back in 98 or so.

the well did have a pitiless adapter but was a 0 clearance type that has the wedge thru the casing sidewall so a pump slides by. never knew they had such a thing to let you install a 4" pump in a 4"pipe.

Down here in the south they don't seem to install pitless adapters I guess it's since freezing isn't an issue.

The whole idea behind a pitless adapter in the north is that the supply line must exit the well casing below the frost depth if we expect to have running water in February . Mine is down 5'-6' feet for example.

The adapter allows pulling the pump for service without having to dig down beside the well casing.

In the south, I suppose your supply lines exit the well casing at the top or at very shallow depths, so there isn't much need for the pitless adapter.
