Purchasing a 3320, questions & concerns

I was approved yesterday for the tractor, this is the deal I worked out. I want thank you guys and everyone else for helping through this purchase

-2007 3320, 740hrs (well maintained), canopy, working lights, brand new 300CX loader - $16,900 (was asking $18,900)

-Heavy duty bucket with cutting edge - $347
-New industrial tires and rims ,loaded (replaced the used ag tires) - $425
-Adjustable Draft Links - $347
-Frontier SB1174 rear snowblower with hydraulic chute - $3200
-John Deere (liberty) Deluxe 20 gun safe ($1300) - $580

Total without tax $22,000. I did not think I did to bad, saved at least $10K from new. This will be perfect for me I just could not swing the extra $150/mos payment. Hopefully in the future I will be able to purchase a 4000 or 5000 series tractor with Cab.

Future purchases for the tractor will be:

-hydrualic post driver
-mid mount mower + mid mount pto kit
-forks
-grapple + remote hydraulic for FEL to run the grapple
-2 row corn planter
-seeder

Will have safe, tractor and loader delivered tomorrow with HD bucket after I sign papers. The cutting edge, adjustable links, and snow blower is on order. I do not know how long, hopefully they arrive quickly.

Have the dealer mount the rear wheels in the wide position before delivery.

I noted you are considering a mid mount mower and mid PTO. I'm not sure of your mowing needs.....but before you pull that trigger.....you may want to consider a 3 point finishing mower OR a 3 point flail mower.

Lots written here on flail mowers (do a search) and lots of guys sure seem to brag on the quailty of cut - yadda yadda. I dont own one....because I dont have the need.....but I would investigate none the less.

I played around with it yesterday had to turn over 60 yards of compost. It work great.

The only issue I had was the tractor became pretty tippy with the 74" bucket was loaded in certain situations. Does anyone else notice the same thing? Thanks!

I have that issue with a 84" High Volume bucket. You need ballast on the rear and may need to consider loaded tires / wheel weights. That's one of the reasons I suggested reversing the wheels to the wide position.

Check the manual for info on ballast.

You often hear that folks think the 3000 series tractors are "tippy". I dont think they are any more tippy than other similar size tractors on with a 60" tread width. You do sit up high on the 3X20 in order to get the flat platform....and I think that makes it feel a bit more tippy.

Also....that loader has some pretty good specs for lifting heavy loads. Given the "right" combination of a heavy load, a wide bucket full and some un-level ground....and you could easilly get into a dangerous mode.

One reason why everyone that owns these tractors promotes proper ballast and extra care on hillsides. Beware!

I do have loaded tires but did not have any rear ballast or attachement on the 3pt hitch.

It makes sense now, all the loader work I have done with the farms MF 1533 we had either the harley rake or tiller on the back of the tractor. The MF1533sits higher and has larger tires on it with the same 60" width and I never was in a situation where the tractor felt tippy with the bucket loaded. The bucket on the MF is only a 60 or 62" bucket also.
