Kubota L2400
So, I think I am going to go with the L2502HST 4WD HST TRACTOR W/FOLDABLE ROPS. Base Model Price is $19,056. This would be my second L series but my first, I bought back in 2005 and really had no clue what I was doing when I bought. So, can you negotiate price on the tractor or implements? I think there is a veteran's discount of $500 that I qualify for. I know I want a box blade and a tiller but was planning on looking for those used. Any advice is appreciated. I am in SC.

Thanks
Wade

Most people are reporting that there’s not much negotiation of the sales price. But you can negotiate for the dealer to throw in little extras. I negotiated for welded bucket hooks, filled tires, and seat armrests. Maybe $500 worth of extras. If you can show a quote from another in state dealer that is lower, they might match it.

In 2022, I had difficulty getting any of the kubota dealers to apply the equine discount much less negotiate. You need to carefully investigate what sales programs kubota is currently offering.

If there are any Yanmar dealers in your area, I'd look at what they have to offer, too.

The last few years, equipment dealers and car dealers were order takers. They didn’t have to sell a customer. It has changed some now. I shopped for a Kubota svl 75-3 and checked with 3 dealers. All quoted basically same price. One finally dropped price 2500 to make the sale. Most dealers have lots full of machines.

I would consider their public discounts they advertise as their starting point.
I have a long time relationship with my dealer and he would do better than this for me without me even asking.
i have heard that tire kickers, internet price seekers, clients with no history at the dealership just looking for lower prices are not even told of these discounts.

Wade, consider getting the tractor with two rear remotes so you can get top and tilt for that box blade. You’ll be glad you did so you don’t have to hop on and off the tractor twenty times every time you want to adjust your box blade.

One of the Kubota dealers I tried to deal with in 2022 claimed not to even know about the equine discount. Another hadn't heard of it, then found it after I brought it up, and then said he wouldn't honor it anyway because he said they couldn't keep L2501s in stock. Finally found a dealer who knew about the discount and would apply it to my purchase. I wanted to deal with that salesman again about a year later on another purchase. He was gone from the dealership and it was like dealing with the other dealers. That's why I suggest seeing if there's a Yanmar dealer near you and see if they are any better to deal with.

Put your checkbook in your shirt pocket where the salesman can see it. That lets him know you're serious, and cuts through much of the BS.

As others have said though, there isn't much price negotiation these days with the manufacturers "build you own" websites. It won't hurt to price out what you want and bring a printout with you. This tells the salesman you've done your homework.

I got the dealer to throw in a canopy. I called other dealers and told them the quote I was given - I was told that was a excellent quote for me so I never felt tempted to ask for more.

There is at least one TBN thread where the question has been asked whether Kubota prices are what they are in order to fund the zero interest finance program?
