Quality Farm & Family/Central Tractor Bankruptcy..

Glad you have a sense of humor, John! You need one when you deal with John Miller and me. We like to kid around!

Does L J have a lot of stock for farm supplies? Do they sell tractor implements? If so what brands? How are their prices?

Sorry for all the questions, but since you decided not to foot the bill for all of us, it's a long trip and we want to know what to expect!

In all seriousness, thanks for the info!!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Prices are good and the parts stock is amazing, if LJ doesn't have what you need he'll find it. Implements are another matter, he carries a few snow blowers, rotary cutters, plows, wagons, but nothing too serious. Things I have purchased in the past few years, tires, 8N starter, oil, filters, hardware, batteries, tarps, 110K btu heater, pins, pto shaft, chains, wire rope, trapeziod lights, electrical wire and boxes, muffler, lawnmower blades, plumbing supplies, hydro fittings/hoses, pick axe, shovels, monster push broom.... I'm in the store at least twice a month.

John,

Thank you... I love that place!

I'll say this... if he doesn't have it... then they just don't make it...! /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

He certainly has an abundance of ag/tractor parts/supplies inventory... he's in MacFadden's backyard... do you also go to MacFadden's?

Again...thanks for the heads up on this local vendor... I'm sold! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: Quality Farm & Family/Central Tractor Bankruptcy..

I head over to Jim McFaddden's at least 5 - 6 times a year, and attend about half of his local auctions. Jim's just down the road from Sharon Springs Garage - my favorite Kubota dealer. Glad you liked Lynnewood's.

Re: Quality Farm & Family/Central Tractor Bankruptcy..

John, I want to thank you also!! I went there Monday. Great place!!! I found a heater for my small plastic water tank that I use for one of my horses. It's a small tank, and the floating heaters are too big, and I needed something that wouldn't melt plastic. No farm supply store that I've been to had something like that, but I found it at Hand's. It's 59 miles from my house, but I'll be making some periodic trips to the place!!

Thanks, again!!! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: Quality Farm & Family/Central Tractor Bankruptcy..

Front page article in our local paper today:
"Tractor Supply acquiring Quality Farm assets"
"Tractor Supply Co...said Monday it and joint venture partners are buying assets of Quality Stores inc....
"Tractor Supply will buy the real estate of 25 stores and will assume lease rights on 60 in 10 Midwestern and Northeastern states, according to a news report."...
"The joint partners, Great American Group, Gordon Brothers Retail Partners LLC and DJM Asset Management LLC, will liquidate all inventory in the stores. The groug won bankruptcy court approval for the purchase." After a complete liquidation of the existing inventory by other members of the joint venture, Tractor Supply expects to reopen approximately 85 stores in the Tractor Supply format by the middle of 2002."

I hate to see Quality go since I have delt with them for 25 years & the end of competition between 2 major players. I do hope that TSC does reopen the store here in town...

Re: Quality Farm & Family/Central Tractor Bankruptcy..

John,

Thank you for the update... maybe they will consider our Upstate NY area to continue for TSC... the only problem is "no big competition" and "whatever the market will bear for price"...prevails... /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

John,

What is the name of the newspaper... do they have a web-site?

When does the liquidation start?

I had emailed Mr. Joe Scarlett, CEO of TSC and wished his company the best, and to please consider our 3 area stores for reopening under the TSC banner...
