question about cd tech manuals

I had a question come up about the tech manuals on CD and whether
they will run ok on a Mac computer (they still make them?)

anyway, I told the guy I think it will work, but wanted to double
check with somebody more experienced on the subject..

Actually macs are going strong and gaining!

I just plugged mine into an iBook (just for you ol' buddy!) It shows up in Finder and I clicked on the contents which let me choose individual manuals. It wasn't totally automatic, but almost.

The Manuals are .pdf's (as in Portable Document Format) which is easily opened by 'any' computer.

So whay are so many people peddling the disks on eBay. Are they pirated? or is there tremendous flexibility in pricing? Or do you have to kill me if you tell me?
