I bought a Massey 1433v about 2 years ago and I am thinking about having the dealer instal draft control on the tractor. What I am hoping is that draft control will make it easier to maintain the gravel on my road and make snow removal easier. What I mean by easier is more control on my drag blade. I seem to be in a constant battle between digging too deep and moving too much gravel and not digging deep enough. Any thoughts would appreciated. Thanks Brian

Draft control is predominately used with ground engaging implements. You set the draft 'threshold , and when that much drag is reached.. the implement lifts.. usually lowering the drag.. then letting it lower again. Pulling snow is going to be fairly light draft.. compaired to say.. plowing.

If you have any friends with ferguson to or te series tractors.. ford 9/2/8 N NAA/jubilee, or hundred series.. ask to borrow their tractors and use them in draft mode to try it out.

Good luck!

Brian,
I don't really think that it would be worth the money for what you want it to do. Like Soundguy said it is for plows.

I agree with the others. I don't think draft control would help. I seem to remember a thread on here a few weeks ago about someone (Henro???) adding wheels to a scraper blade. Maybe that would help.

Like EastTexFrank said, sure sounds like either skid shoes or gage wheels on your rear blade is what you want.

Myself and FredS put gage wheels on our back blades this fall, following the foot steps of others. My experience so far is that they are a great addition to the back blade for my unpaved driveway and parking area. Allmost night and day over what it used to be.

Adding wheels or skid shoes to your blade would be relatively cheap and be a great improvement from what I can see.

Another question about draft control: Does a BX23 have draft control? The "down" position (lever stays down while operating 3PH implement) seems like it adjusts to "drag" but, not sure ... can't find anything in the manual ...
