Well, based on 109 lbs I could easily have had 500lbs in the bucket... Hmmmm.....

The light material bucket holds 18 cu. ft.. Half full would be close to 1000 lbs. if 1 cu.ft. weighs 109.

And my bucket is a heavy duty LMB with a Grapple on it. I think I was told around 500lbs of metal.

So, I guess I get my lift being under what I visioned. My problem is that first, I was raised around large implements, and second, there is a bunch of construction going on on our property and I see this and think I can do the same

I wouldn't presume to know what limits lift on the 1850, but I can say that moving wood the other day with a 1445, I did get enough on the forks to cause the rears to lighten up as I articulated around a corner. The PT came up very gradually and politely, and back down again as I corrected. I could see this happening to the 1850, especially if you beefed up the front.

Maybe you might want to consider downgrading to, or at least having on hand for the clay, a smaller, lighter bucket that would be better matched to what the machine can lift. You might be losing 10-20% of your capacity in the larger bucket.

Otherwise, I wonder if you might fall into an escalation of modifications-
  • Adding bigger lift cylinders causing a light rear
  • Adding weight to the rear
  • Wanting more lift
  • Enlarging the cylinders
  • Beefing up the front arms
  • Adding even more weight to the rear
  • Adding a turbo to the diesel
  • Adding the intercooler and water injection system
  • Adding in the laser saber for better hillside cuts
  • Adding in extra cooling radiators and fans
  • Wanting to have your lift and slope performance
  • Adding more weight to the rear and front
  • ...

Maybe you need to have your own dozer for the bigger stumps...

All the best,

Wholly cow. That dozer is CRAZY. I could never get it on my property as my road is way too narrow... But man, it would impress the neigbors for sure...

Really, what do you know about that dozer, any article on the person who put it together?

Road? Who needs a road?

It is the Komatsu D575, the largest bulldozer currently in production that I know of. They are mostly used by coal strip mining companies.

Case Study

The blade is ~ 90 cubic yards. Used, they run $325k+.

Have fun.

Hmmm Build my new house or get a toy every neighbor will envy. Such a tough decision... I wonder how many 5 gallon diesel cans I would have to buy...
