Questions On Switching To Rotella Synthetic

For those looking for a good source of Delvac 1 try www.avlube.com They charge $83.89 per case of 4-1 gallons or $24.64 per gallon. I received my first order from them yesterday. Shipping was under $15 for 5 gallons and based on the boxes packaging and seals on the caps they do not make one red cent on shipping/handeling. I had my oil in 1 day. I highly reccomend them. Dave

Does anyone here have experience with Valvoline "BLUE" 5W40 synthetic? I have been running it in my Duramax now for 5K miles (after 10K miles on dino oils) and just had the oil changed and put it in again. It's a full synthetic heavy-duty Diesel oil and meets/exceeds CAT, JD, GM and many other HD diesel engine specs. I'm debating staying with it long-term as my local NAPA carries it (they sell to local shops who service OTR trucks). I've looked for Mobil 1 Delvac but cannot find it locally.

I'm also just about to do my first change on my 2210 and have purchased the Rotella Sythetic for it - this motor is Diesel of course but non-turbo so Deere's specs aren't nearly as stringent as what the DMax calls for - and both Rotella's meet/exceed the Deere spec.

With the 2210 only holding 2.1 quarts I'll be changing at 50hrs or sooner, hard to believe it can get by with such a small amount of oil, my 335's gas motor has about the same oil capacity.......

I'm surprised that Kubota would send a statement like that - talk about behind the times. If an oil meets or exceeds the API and manufacturer standards listed in your owners manual, and you follow suggested change intervals, there's no way they can say that one brand of oil or another caused a failure.

On a related note, Delvac1 is great stuff. I race, build engines, heavily modify anything I buy, and run some high-horsepower cars. The crowd I run with and I have tried and tested just about every oil out there - Red Line, Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil1, and some weird exotics. Delvac1 has such a monsterous ability to hold up under adverse conditions, neutralize acids, and suspend soots that it is an absolutely fantastic oil. Believe me, you think the tractor crowd is fixated on oils? Try the folks that are trying to squeeze just a few extra horsepower out of a 500 HP engine and add 50 hours of life to it by switching from one oil to another... It's just plain ridiculous, but I've learned a lot from them.

Its a little more expensive than the others but I sure like the extra protection of Delvac 1. Besides in the 2210 1 gallon or $25 will last two years ! lol. I use this in my truck as well. I think this stuff is rated to like 100,000 miles for the big rigs. I like the extra protection it offers. Plus it is a true synthetic unlike the Rotella which is really a highly refined oil and not a true synthetic. Dave
