Questions on the TYM 273

Isn't there also a deductible on the warranty? I know this was the case when I was looking to sign with them. I don't think it was very much, just could be a shock if you don't know about it.

Hi Jon......yeah.....as with most things.....its not as good as it sounds on its face with the warranty. 60 months or 1500 hours whichever is first. first 24 months no deductible, 24 months to 60 months is $250 deductible on power train. Electrical is not covered. FEL is only 24 months. parts used for warranty repair get 180 days or balance of warranty, whichever is longer. Better keep all receipts and document all maintenance, and beware the claim it broke because you abused it or failed to maintain it properly. This is from the TYM official site.

I have not given up on making a deal with you, btw. I am just concerned about the fact the CK's weigh 3000 plus out of the gate before you start putting in fluids, loaders, etc. I'm not too keen on hauling one on a 7000 lb trailer....I'm thinking a 8-9000lb trailer is needed at least. And its a bit bigger in frame that what I really want. I'd do a ck20 or 1914 but don't like 'em when I've sat on them.

I did like the TYM 273. Great operator's platform and seat. I sure wish the CK30hst had two pedals instead of the **** toggle...I really hate that thing. Rear remotes would be a nice feature too.

As far as the 0%, I think they want 10% down which is a bit steep for me. I'm looking into leasing possibly anyway.

My biggest concern about the 273 is the contradicting specifications....is it a 1600 lb machine or 1900 lb?? What is the correct capacity at the 3pt hitch? What is the actual HP at the PTO?

Wierd that they can't get this right and be consistent.

But its a very nice machine to sit on and operate. For the power and money...the Kioti might be the better deal. But I liked that dang 273 real well driving it around. I need to go back and put it through some paces under load. It may be too light??

Of course, whom you are dealing with is a big part of it too.....I wish you had taken on that TYM dealership Jon......then I'd be able to work with you regardless of which product I decided upon.

Anywho...no one is going to make a deal until I can get my dang Bank to get back to me and my insurer to get me a qoute on a farm policy to insure this dang tractor. ****...I may end up scrapping the whole orchard idea if it doesn't work out.

ARRRGG!!!!

I am 90% sure I am buying a 330HST... I have severe grounds issues that I have not completely wrapped my head around, and I am thinking about the powertrac sort of tractor as well. Here are some notes I have that I have not seen here.

First, if you have not been on a tractor, i really suggest renting one, even if for just a weekend. 8 hours of seat time will give you a lifetime of help in buying decisions. I had a Kubota for a week, and honestly hated it by the end of the run. The rocker HST pedals, funky ergonomics and tippy nature had me completely turned off...

Second, the 273 is well designed, I drove it around and loved it, but it has a lot of plastic. Main school of thought is that it will bend and return, if the strike is hard enough to break it the feeling I have is that it would cause you to have to replace the metal version.

Finally, the Kioti is OK, I never felt the steel underneath is all that strong, and there are lots of people who complain about the frames and other parts actually breaking.

Don't forget a lot of what it is all about is the dealer.

I'm on the fence about a 330 vs. the 273. On one hand I have a small acreage but I hope to use it other places so the total acreage potential is 10+.

I got hold of corporate.....they said the 273 tractor is 1655 lbs (it was a receptionist not an engineer) and loader was another 1200 lbs...dang that seems heavy. Total would be close to 3000 lbs. Definitely 3000 lbs with fuel, water and lube....probably 3200. that leaves 1200-1300 lbs excess capacity for an implement, filled tires....

ck30 with ag tires and ROPS is 3055 without the loader. Loader adds 700 lbs per Kioti specs. That is 3700 lbs...dry. 4000 lbs easy with fuel, water and lube. That leaves 500 lbs leeway for safe trailering on a trailer with two 3500 lb axles. Maybe one implement could be added to the load. Probably not.

the 330hst is a kubota plant vs. mitsubishi......not sure how important that may be. actually rated hp is at higher rpm than on the 273.....weird. Bigger motor you would think generates power at lower rpm...but not the case here. You lose mid pto as a standard equipment. gain another pair of rear remotes?? 3064 lbs out of the box without the loader. similar to the ck30.

sigh.....it mostly comes down to do I want/need a larger frame heavier weight unit or the smaller, lighter more nimble one? I'm leaning to smaller/lighter/nimbler at the moment.

What kind of pricing did you run into for a 330???

I don't have the invoice here, but the 330 with loader was around 17K... Left me 5 k in my 22K budget for implements...

I wish I could rent a larger tractor just to make sure of my needs. Quite frankly, the little Kubota b2100 I had rented was more than enough tractor for most of my work that I tested it with. the 4' brush hog was pretty narrow for the open areas, but I was moving so slow anyway cause of the 8' blackberry bushes. But at some point I want to Till and boxblade, and it was clear to me that the 2100 will not have enough. But, I think the big things I want to do will require a bulldozer. Based on that I fiigure I can go a bit smaller (30 to 35hp), and with the money saved I have money to bring a guy up with a dozer once I find the corners of my property.

The 330 had one hydraulic in the back, and mid PTO, which I will never use I think.

I do fear TYM's future, CUT sales will drop soon and the a lot of people are going to shake out of it. But, it is a big operation in Korea, and the parts they are using seem to be from larger suppliers. TYM Built an warehouse in Oregon which is fairly local to me.

Your homeowners insurance should cover your tractor. Mine does...

About the only reason I have not pulled the triger is that I am still researching the tipover - hill issue I have.

features like:

*Dual hydro pedals rather than one annoying toggle pedal that trips you up
*One pair of remotes standard
*Push button independent PTO
*Push button cruise control on dash rather than a lever down below your knee
*Loader has no annoying cross bar across the hood and obstructing the fuel cap
*Roomy and comfortable operator platform despite a smaller frame
Weight under 3000 lbs so trailering less of an issue on a 7000 lb trailer....which can really only manage about 5000lbs safely since you have to figure in the weight of the trailer
*23 hp at the PTO per TYM dealer.....same as a CK30HST
*True quick detach fel bucket
*shorter turning radius
*5 year warranty vs 4 year.....dealer said there is talk of going to 7 next year
*60 months 0% vs. 36 months for a CK

There are the downsides vs. the CK tractors:
*lower hydraulic flow.....5 gpm is significant but loader and steering operated very responsively for me...I've driven both and failed to notice any difference
*1 inch less of ground clearance
*double edge sword of tighter turning is shorter length which costs in weight and leverage for the tractor
*less weight....CK's are just a tad too heavy, imho. TYM is confusing as to what the weight is.....online says 1654 but the sales brochure had it just under 2000 lbs. Similar confusion on 3pt hitch lift capacity....online is 400lbs higher than printed brochure which is just under 1300 lbs. hmmmmm
*carries about a gallon less of fuel in tank
*runs at 100 rpm higher than CK's for rated power

I agree that is a nice set of features. The quick attach and set of remotes are very handy and justifies some of the higher price. I would not worry much about slightly higher RPMs or a gallon of fuel. The issue of weight depends on whether your primary use will be mowing or ground engaging work. How do the capacities of FEL and BH compare with the LA402/BH75 and KL130/KB2375?

Jordan, I think these weights are with fluid and fuel, I wouldn't say its going to weigh much over 3700. A trailer with 2 3.5k Axles with handle this tractor no problem, or any tractor in this weight.

I agree, just from reading your post I think you are over agonizing over your trailer capacity. If your trailer has dual 3500lbs axles there is not one tractor on market today in the hp range you are looking for that the trailer won't handle just fine.

Don't let a false fear of trailer capacity make your decision for you. You know the Kioti is the heavier, stronger tractor here. Your "trailer issue" is really a non-issue. Good luck.

Friends
The Kioti is not CK30 is not a comparable tractor to the T273. The T330 would be a better comparison and I am sure the there are pluses and minuses on both sides. If you are more comfortable with the Kioti dealer, tractor, etc than I completely understand. I just thought you were comparing the CK30 to the T273. Like most comparisons you need to consider your needs and comfort level with all things concerned to make you decision.

In regard to the comment from someone about they charge a 6% surcharge for the 0% for 60, that is not true (I can only speak for TYM-America marketing area) There is a slight dealer participation cost for the dealer to use the low rate financing and a program just came out where if the dealer does not use the financing there is now a $500 rebate on T233's and T273's. Any way you look at it the 0 for 60 is a bargain. But if you just do not want payments you can get a slightly better deal. Like everything else I doubt the 0 for 60 will last for ever.

Last but not least the 5-year warranty has just been upgraded to what I think you will agree is the best in the industry. Still 5 years but the first 3 years are bumper to bumper (excluding wear items) than the forth year is drive train only PARTS and LABOR NO DEDUCTABLE and the fifth year is drive train only, parts only $250 deductible. (It might actual be $200 deductible but I do not have my notes in front of me) This was just announced to the dealers during the International Lawn and Garden Expo that took place in Louisville, KY last week. (Great show by the way)

Not trying to start a debate or a brand war but I just thought I should set those things strait. Hope that helps and good luck with what ever you buy.
Happy Tractoring
Chipperman.

You are right.....and I'm not prepared to buy the 330 so Kioti WINS!

I dearly enjoyed that 273 but I think in the end I will miss the weight and power of the CK30....so I won't go there.

Jon....send me my tractor please.
