Quick hitch other than Harbor Freight?

A few attachments have top links that are not approachable from below.

Even the non compatible ones can be converted with a little welding and drilling..

You may be able to back into position without the hook, then insert the hook pointing downward to get the top pin.

Also, who is the best supplier for top link adapter for non-quick hitch compatible implements?

You don't need the "Y" shaped adapter. I made two flat straps, about 2.5 by 3/8 by 10, with several pin holes in them. They go on the outside of the top hitch of the implement, not the inside.

These "bushing sets"...

NorTrac Quick-Hitch Bushing Set — Fits Category 1 Hitches | 3-Point Hitch Adapters| Northern Tool + Equipment

...assuming it includes two bushings and two pins -- but assuming these things always gets me into trouble. Doesn't exactly say what is included. do I need to buy one or two for each implement?

What you see is exactly what you'll get...two bushings and two roll pins.
With some quick hitches, you may need a bushing for the top link pin as well. IIRC, this bushing is .625 ID x .75 OD x 2.5 or 2.75 length. It must fit the QH between the two upright supports (where the tractor's top link hooks in).

Any top link for Cat 1 tractors will work with an implement...one caveat: Top links come in different lengths....you may need a longer of shorter one for some implements.
Last one I got was at Tractor Supply and it cost about $25, IIRC. You might find them a bit cheaper online, but consider shipping costs before you buy.

It is the top, center PIN that needs adaptation -- not the turnbuckle top link. My apologies for the confusion.

OK...you need a bushing that is .625" ID by .75" OD by 2.5" or 2.75" long (measure between the QH brackets for your QH for the exact length. A little short is better)
These bushings aren't normally supplied with QH bushings kit (except by Deere...but Deere's kit is outrageously expensive!!). You can get the required bushing at Tractor Supply, Agri-Supply and, quite likely, your local hardware store.

I think he needs this adapter for implements with no pin access from the bottom. But two flat straps can be used, instead.

Bruce,
Is that picture correct? Looks like that adapter would possibly work, but appears to be backwards. shouldn't it be attached to the implement, with the pin ready to connect to the QH top J-Hook?

Could be, Bruce...maybe he'll respond.

Read my post from yesterday at 8:03. I am pretty sure that will work for the rake.

Agreed. Adding the "forked" adapter might permit me to hook-up without getting off the tractor, but the adapter will introduce floating behavior which might not be helpful when using ground engaging equipment. Might be easiest to do as you suggest!

(BTW - hello to anyone searching the Internet hoping to hook-up and get-off)

It won't float. Bottom hooks stabilize up-down motion, the top link stabilizes front-back motion.

Bruce - do you leave your set-up that way and use for all implements -- even if the QH J-hook fits?

Thanks

Not my photo (found on the internet to illustrate), but I left my homemade link on the rake after each use, when I was doing ground work. Otherwise it stayed on the carryall. The others fit the top hook.
