Modify the "older stuff" once to fit QH and be happy forever..... QH is 3rd generation designed to do a way with all the foibles of non standard hitch attachments....Picking up my Speeco QH Monday but just saw great videos on Pats Quick Connects, man! should have got those instead, I have some older stuff that may not work with Speeco.
I modded all of my non-QH implements the year I bought a QH. Well-worth the effort, as I made other improvements while I already had the welder and other tools out and handy.Modeify the "older stuff" once to fit QH and be happy forever..... Yeah. Here's my minor improvement to a small disc to match the QH. New pins and some washers.I modded all of my non-QH implements the year I bought a QH. Well-worth the effort
That's pretty neat. I don't need it for that purpose, but I have been thinking of stiffening the pins on my subsoiler, which I abuse a lot, and this would be one way to do it.If someone is building a ballast box here's a way to mount the lower pins.
Hammer the pins into 1.25" OD square tubing then weld them together.
Here's a thread describing the application. I put additional pins on an old back blade to make it quick hitch compatible.
I bent the locking lever on the Pat's, but it bent right back. That's pretty neat. I don't need it for that purpose, but I have been thinking of stiffening the pins on my subsoiler, which I abuse a lot, and this would be one way to do it.
Reading this thread, I'm wondering why people don't buy Pat's hitches instead of all that steel. My Pat's hitch system has been great so far, and I believe it will allow me to connect an offset flail mower, which won't work with a normal QH.
I wonder if there is some problem with Pat's hitches that I don't know about.
I offset my rotary mower same as I would without the QH, by adjusting the tractor's sway chains. My Pat's hitch system has been great so far, and I believe it will allow me to connect an offset flail mower, which won't work with a normal QH.
Thanks for this image. I will need to reconfigure my old 7' rear scraper blade with something like this, probably.Yeah. Here's my minor improvement to a small disc to match the QH. New pins and some washers.
No bushings. There's no need for a precision fit in this application.

It appears to me that "top pin jumps out" complaints are from using a rotary cutter, in a quick hitch, with a pin (red) in the holes designed for the top link, instead of re-assembling the cutter hitch to fit a quick hitch. On a quick hitch when the bottom pins are locked in
its not possible for the top pin to jump out of the top

The slightly longer pins shown above were from Tractor Supply.Brush cutter hooked up good to new Speeco QH it's the biggest heaviest piece I have so that's great.
Box will have to move mount and support arms, no biggie, but my 4' rake pins are to short.
Which bushings or extra long pins can I use? Need about 2 inches more each side?
5 1/4" now, need about 8" each?
Mine came the same way wrapped in plastic but everything works!I don't know if tractor-supply is getting these SpeeCo's from some sort of clearance house or what, but it came with no paperwork and just some bubble wrap around oh, 80% of the unit. Forgot to take a pic before ripping it off. But the bottom on each side was unprotected and just covered in some stupid warning tape from UPS. Not awesome, but oh well.

Easily swapped it in without even disconnecting the PTO shaft.

I guess I'll just configure each attachment one at a time as I swap them in, from now on.
Joke's on me though, as the good deal I got on this quick hitch was quickly squandered by an impulsive grab of a basic chicken coop as a surprise for mother's day, hahaha.
