If someone is building a ballast box here's a way to mount the lower pins.

Hammer the pins into 1.25" OD square tubing then weld them together.

Here's a thread describing the application. I put additional pins on an old back blade to make it quick hitch compatible.

Picking up my Speeco QH Monday but just saw great videos on Pats Quick Connects, man! should have got those instead, I have some older stuff that may not work with Speeco.

Modify the "older stuff" once to fit QH and be happy forever..... QH is 3rd generation designed to do a way with all the foibles of non standard hitch attachments....

I modded all of my non-QH implements the year I bought a QH. Well-worth the effort, as I made other improvements while I already had the welder and other tools out and handy.

True, still would need bushings for Pats.

Yeah. Here's my minor improvement to a small disc to match the QH. New pins and some washers.

No bushings. There's no need for a precision fit in this application.

That's pretty neat. I don't need it for that purpose, but I have been thinking of stiffening the pins on my subsoiler, which I abuse a lot, and this would be one way to do it.

Reading this thread, I'm wondering why people don't buy Pat's hitches instead of all that steel. My Pat's hitch system has been great so far, and I believe it will allow me to connect an offset flail mower, which won't work with a normal QH.

I wonder if there is some problem with Pat's hitches that I don't know about.

I bent the locking lever on the Pat's, but it bent right back.

I also bent a couple of pins using bushings on a Cat 1 scoop bucket with my Cat II tractor. Actually, IIRC I have 5 bent pins, why I save them, lord only knows. ;-

Weld ons?

I sometimes use the QH to shove an implement into alignment before hooking up. Doubt you can do that without a QH.

The QH also provides 65 lbs of ballast mounted far back, significant on a small tractor.

Here's a photo from when I had to backfill a trench in the narrow corridor behind the barn. To improve traction in that tight space I chained on two 75 lb wheel weights. I have two more but didn't need them. If I ever do this again I'll first put on the side-to-side drawbar for a little more weight and to reduce swaying.

The QH has many uses. Note the toolbox carried there.
