You not getting any of this rain?

Probably had a much needed 1-1/2" in the last 3 days.

Yard still firm enough not to rut, but it leaves cleat marks. And getting in the garden results in 10# boots after a few steps

Nary a drop. My 83 day sweet corn that matured two weeks ago only had a little over 1" after the first few days of growth. There are cornfields around here with six foot high corn that is twisted into drought spiral leaves and is mostly brown. It's all going north or south and neither of them need it. For some reason, my field corn still looks pretty good. We had .40" two nights ago so that will hold for a while and there is supposed to be widespread rain on the weekend and longer with an inch a day. That will be a million dollar rain if it happens.

When I moved that big rock with 18.4-30 and 12.4-34 deep lug radials, the grass was so brown I barely even dented it. Dirt looked untouched and you couldn't even tell I drove over it.

Looks like your tractor has R1's on it. How do you like them?

Had them on my L2250 and considered getting R4's on my new L3901. Went back and forth with the decision and ultimately went with loaded R1's. No regrets whatsoever and I like them a great deal for the work I do. Field work and snow removal. I also widened the rear wheels and it made a huge difference in stability.

Deerslayer did you use spacers or just flip and move tires to opposite side on you L3901? I think you can gain about 4 inches in width but maybe not that much?

Flipped and moved them; no spacers. Actually got a total of 7 inches additional overall width.

Basic Ls are very limited on wheel width, unlike the Grand Ls. My R4s can't be widened without spacers. Think the R1 wheels have a few options. Grand Ls have multiple width options for R1 & R4s.

Difference is with the rims.

I've got R1s and they really squat when I get a full bucket load. If they ever need replacing I'm going to look into getting R1Ws. But they have held up just fine. I've actually thought about getting R1s to replace the R4 on my full sized backhoe. They only see the weight of the hoe empty. When I'm using it the outriggers are down and the tires are up in the air. The slow wheel speed means the R4s do not clean themselves out at all in the slightest amount of mud. While I can always use the loader or backhoe to get out of almost anything it really does a number on the ground.

I saw a Deere 5065M recently with what appeared to be oversize R4's on it. They looked like regular R4's but significantly bigger and bulkier and with a slightly different tread pattern. Surely not a true R4. I really liked them and thought it a better compromise between R1's and R4's.

That's interesting. What are R1W's? I think I'm getting R1's.
