Has any one used RainX on the plexiglass windows of their homade cabs. The bottle said to test on acrilics before using. I tried it on a scrap piece and didn't see any harmfull effects. When I rinsed it off with water I couldn't tell where I had aplied the RainX. Does it work differently on acrilics that glass. I use it on all my vehicles with great results. I made a front winshield for my F2100 to keep some of the snow off of me while snow blowing (if it ever snows here). I was going to try the RainX before installing a winshield wiper set up.

I ruined a Harley windshield with it, got cloudy.

I personnally wouldn't use it on plexi. I'm not saying it won't work, but to me, it's not worth the chance of ruining the windshield. I've had good luck using automotive wax on plexi and had good results. It may not be as good as RainX on glass, but it does a pretty good job.

The reason it destroyed the Harley windshield is because there is a plastic laminating sheet covering on the windshield that helps to prevent the windshield from shattering when struck - that's what went cloudy. I also use auto wax on my Harley windshield without any problems.

Someone on TBN recommended Meguiar's brand. I used it on the windows on my soft cab and was impressed. It removed the cloudiness and seems to work like the rain-x for shedding water.

Used rainx on the plastic windshield of my RTV....Didn't seem to hurt anything but couldn't see that it helped either. I do use it on my vehicle windshields.

I use Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 on any clear plastic, removes minor scratches and leaves a water shedding polish. The most impressive use is on my reading glasses, they stay clean and clear much longer using it. I even use it on real glass.

You dont want to put anything on plexiglass with alcohol or especially ammonia(Windex or other glass cleaners) as it will cloud the windshield. I used to use a special aircraft windshield polish on the window of my Cessna that cleaned and polished. Cant remember the name now. Diamond Pilot might have some input on this.

Meguiars Mirror Glaze product line is favored by the aviation industry. Worked at a Piper parts distributor for a few years, that is what we sold. Scratch X is a fine polish, easier to find at almost any auto parts store.

I have the Meguiares cleaner and polish.I use it for cleaning scrached acrylic just didn't think of using it on a new windshield. Woud you just use the polish and not the cleaner.

That's exactly the brand I use. I first use the cleaner/polish, then a coat of wax does the trick...for me! As always, YMMV, JMHO!
