Recently purchased a BX24. 14 hours on it and I love it.

In the market for a Rake. My local TSC has a King Kutter XB 5' for $399.

Questions:

- How long is it going to take me to remove the BH?
- Can the rake element be swapped with a moldboard blade element. Can you purchase just the moldboard blade element?
- How much extra are the gage wheels going to be?
- Considering the Landpride LR05. Anyone have this with the flip down grader blade? What's a good price for the LR05 with gage wheels and flip down grader blade?
- Any other brands models I should consider?

Thanks

With the new BX24, you could go with the non-xb stuff as well. The new hitch design allows for better lift height the the old set-up. I have a bx1500 and just finished buidling a full sized rake. My 1500 can lift it to a dececnt height. My thought was that it would be easier to resell full sized if I needed to.

That being said, I do own an XB box blade. Landpride makes some really nice stuff. If you have the cash, go for it. The KK stuff has held up for me just fine so far.

I can't answer all your questions, but in removing the BH, I can say that I can remove mine in about 10-15 minutes. The biggest thing is make sure you do it on a flat surface and if possible on concrete or asphalt. It will make hooking it back up much easier.

I can remove mine in about 5 minutes or so. Once you get used to it (I do it at least once a week, with the FEL so that I can mow), it goes pretty quick.

Baldwin,

I got a Midwest 72" rake for $450 delivered and a 60" rear blade with angle, tilt, offsetting moldboard for $400 delivered from Illinois to Colorado. Both of those are much heavier duty than any of the KK stuff I've seen at the local farm supply (and after 2+ years, the paint is still in better shape than the brand new KK paint at the farm supply) Actually, the bright red Midwest paint has held up better than the tan Landpride paint on my tiller.

You may want to check with Midwest (if you can't find a local dealer) and see what they can do for you - you'll like their implements better than the KK. There are some pics of the rake and rear blade on my Webshots link below. You can get them in Kubota grey, too (not sure if they're doing Kubota orange now, but you can check).

After a few hours use with the rake, I broke down and ordered the gauge wheels, and they made a huge difference, so I'd recommend just sucking it up and getting them from the start, especially with a subcompact's non-position control 3ph.

The first time you remove the bh, I would allow a little extra time. The first time I did mine, I thought I may be doing it incorrectly, because the top part would not disconnect. After rereading the manual and trying different prying methods, the best bet was to "jump up and down" on the rear of the BH to get it to dislodge. It could have been painted on, etc
