Ram1500 EcoDiesel V6 revealed!

Ford has payloads just as low with the F150. Tim isn't lucky his truck is past 1200lbs. You get the truck you want. If you don't want a ram with light payload buy one with a higher payload. It's as easy as having the dealer find you one or order you one.

So you are saying Ram 1500 and Ford F150 payload options are the same? Tim is lucky because he has more than 1200 lbs and most are much less and very few have SLIGHTLY more. I welcome you to visit your local dealer and post pictures to prove me wrong.

Please do a quick internet search because I obviously don't have enough respect for you to take my word.

Most of what you need to know.....

"Refinery yields can be tweaked but to produce significantly more distillate they would need to undergo significant upgrades costing billions." (equate distillate with diesel production).

1) Big Oil wants the N. American fleet on gasoline.

2) The last new refinery was built in the USA in 19__ ? We have the same problem in Canada.

It is up to the person buying to get the truck they want and need. I personally would only buy a ram or a f150 with the highest payload available for the configuration I want. Just because the salesmen mostly order low payload rams for the lot makes no difference to me if they can't find what I want I order. I usually order trucks anyway unless they are just fleet trucks.

Unfortunate unless you want to build your own refinery. We have to live in their world and make logical decisions with the cards we are delt.

You still are not understanding the issue. It is not the salesman who is at fault. They nor you can order more payload capacity with the Ram 1500. They are not offered!

You have payload options when you buy any truck yes the ram 1500 max payload is under the f150s max payload. But if you order the max payload for the ram it is a capable truck. What I was saying before if you don't order the F150 correctly it can have a very small payload as well. So I do say that if there is a lot of low payload trucks ordered it is the salesman or sales managers fault. A good dealer has options for people to chose from not a bunch if the same trucks in different colors. Ford is pushing the f150 as a heavy duty half ton right now so most of the dealers order high payload or high towing configurations.

I guess our differences are the definition of a capable truck. Maybe the standard cab V6 configuration has more acceptable payload but then you loose capability elsewhere. Get a crew cab with the heavy cast iron Hemi or this heavier diesel and it can't tow a trailer of any size with passengers. Get the bigger motors and load it with options and you are a 4 passenger vehicle.

There is no max payload option for the Ram. That was discontinued two years ago.

Irvings has upped the refinery capacity to handle more heavy crude.

Perhaps that is part of why diesel prices here are sometimes closer to gas.

Capacity is a problem in general, even with gasoline (both sides of the border). If you follow the business news, how many times have you heard "Gasoline prices have spiked, due to an unscheduled refinery shutdown" ?

Funny how that works.... almost like it was intentionally structured that way.....
