Ram1500 EcoDiesel V6 revealed!

What's the payload difference between the 3500 ram and the f350? What's the max trailer weight for the ram 3500 and the F350? The fords just are not as capable of a truck. I am poking you guys a little but I think these heavy duty half tons are kinda silly. I think ram is going after the best market a very fuel efficient half ton with a decent tow rating. If you want to haul like the big boys buy a 3/4 or a 1 ton. The way it looks to me is that ram under rates their trucks to have a safety margin while ford rates theirs at the razors edge of their ability and people pushing the f150 to haul 11,600 lbs or whatever it's rated often are asking for trouble.

1256*1.47= 1846.32
47% more than Ram

1835*31.5%= aproximately 579 lb difference
31.5% less than Ford

Thus Tomayto / Tomahto for those wondering.
Just goes to show how numbers can change your perspective..

You know, 1200 lbs used to be a lot for a half-ton truck. Back when a half ton was 1000 lbs.

But, with the addition of crew cabs and the ability to haul more people, stick 5 guys and their guns in a truck to go on a hunting trip, and you don't even have room to take the dogs with you in the bed of the truck! Wanna go with 2 other guys and take an ATV? Forget about it!

With that said, I've hauled a ton of pellets in the back of my Super Duty (with it's 1999 lb payload) along with another 500 lbs of people inside the cab.

Any way you slice it, it is significant. Still sounds better than 94% more or 63% less, had I choosen the Max payload package.

Just imagine if it was 100% more. That always freaks people out and completely confuses them.

I'm an engineering major with 200% more hours of math credits than most college grads, so I enjoy confusing people like that. :D

So to take the family camping with a pop up camper you need to buy a "big boy" 3/4 ton truck?
If you want to fill all 6 seats and a cooler you need a 3/4 ton truck?
Dont put seating capacity for 5 or six people and a payload capacity too low to haul them, period.

A Dodge grand caravan has door stickers of more than 1500 lbs, more cargo capacity than many of these Ram 1500s and they don't have a frame. Many 4 door sedans are around 1000 lb payload.

This isn't a ford vs Ram issue. It is a Ram vs Segment issue. They are obviously marketing this truck for mileage and grocery getting and pushing die hard Ram owners to step up to a 3/4 ton if they need a truck.

Tim is lucky his truck is past 1200 lbs. That is pretty high for what I have seen in a crew cab.

Ford has payloads just as low with the F150. Tim isn't lucky his truck is past 1200lbs. You get the truck you want. If you don't want a ram with light payload buy one with a higher payload. It's as easy as having the dealer find you one or order you one.
