Prolly will figure it out about the same time Ford figures out how to keep the rear cab corners form doing the same thing..

Hope its soon.

Not just the corners but the sills are crap too.. I should know, I got a rotted one:eek:

The alloy Ford is using will do fine with salt.

How expensive is SS compared to Al? How heavy is it? The primary reason for Al is weight savings.

I dunno..

Its supposed to be "military grade" stainless whatever that means, lol.

Hope its better than the Aluminum the Navy used on the LCS... those are / were rotting at the pier!

You know, we used Galvaneal for the boxes of 3-phase converters where I last worked and placed a small sheet outside as a test when we first got it.. 9 years later, and its still not rusted or corroded.. Cheaper and stronger than aluminum alloy, though not as light.

All aluminum? Seems quite expensive... Unless very thin and thus weak.

No, it's actually going to be stronger than the steel panels were. They've done 'secret' testing with ranchers, oil field workers, etc. and found the bed came back in better shape than steel beds. Expect it to be slightly more pricey than steel, but not drastically.

Do some research on the '15 F150 and find the details. Too much to list here.

The engine is nice and all....

But has Dodge figured out how to build a pickup that wont have the rear wheel arches blistered and rotting out after a few years? Seems almost every Dodge pickup I see that is over 4 or 5 years old is showing blisters over the rear wheels.. Whats up with that???

Mine's 7 years old and rust free.

Lucky you.

Maybe its climate.. or road salt. But the Dodges fair the worst by far around here. And they all rust out in the exact same spots, the rear wheel arches. Its more than a mere coincidence. Either there is a lip there catching debris or perhaps a lack of galvanizing from the plant... something is causing it.

Same here with the Dodges. GM'S get cab corners rusting out. Ford's get the least and it's usually at door and tailgate bottoms.

The guy that did my rustproofing said Fords are the worst in that they foam some of their cavities which is a death sentence when mixed with the road salt. Law of unintended consequences I guess. Makes you wonder if those Auto Engineers/Designers have one functioning brain between them.
