Ram1500 EcoDiesel V6 revealed!

There's a lot of "unique" posters on this site. It's kind of amusing to see some people here post their own specific tweaky personal preference for what's important in a truck, and to post it in such a tone as if 300 million people across the country share the same views and wants.

This post just effectively summed up the last 3-4 or more pages.

Those are dealer orders, not customer sales.

There's a fellow on another board who has access to the chrysler order system, and he is saying 1000 trucks are dealer allocated, 7000 sold on pre-order. However that is not a confirmable number.

The numbers that I saw (reported by Chrysler) were 8000 dealer orders, of which 400 were customer orders.

The truck could be rated for a load of 200 lbs or 2000 lbs, people don't care. They will use the thing how ever they feel like it. Look at the thread about people towing or hauling something wrong.

Most of the people on this board are more informed, they are more likely to actually tow something or haul something. Most of America just uses it like a car with a big bed in back.

True, people on this forum are more informed when shopping for a truck. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of people who don't do their homework when buying a truck to do truck duties like towing and hauling. While camping with friends last fall, payload became a campfire discussion and two of the guys who just towed in large trailers with the beds full of firewood, didn't know that there was a payload sticker on their door. Come to find out, both were exceeding the capacity of the truck and they didn't know it. Still haven't figured out why I have to have an endorsement on my liscense for my motorcycle but not to tow a trailer.

I may have been guilty of this myself but find this forum to be tailored towards people who use a truck as a truck. Those who don't can disregard my posts. One exception: on the particular truck with a 490 lb payload which shouldn't be used to haul multiple people.

Unfortunately with gas at $3.25 and diesel at $3.80 per gallon 28mpg for the deisel and 24mpg for the gas are virtually identical in terms of cost. However I suspect the deisel costs ALOT more to purchase.
