Re: Ramon49\'s post about his L3130!

Rat, I should clarify, I've used an L3130, but don't own. Looked at buying one very closely for 8 months or so then was told no by the significant other. After fixing the tractor we use the umpteenth time this winter she got frustrated and yelled well we should just go out and buy one that works! Currently looking at a couple of different L5030 hstc's.

The tractor we use (but don't technically own, long story) is a International 584, 4wd, 9000 lbs or so, 4wd, loader, cab etc.

Da Nag, I would be interested in your candid thoughts on your new L3130. I've said enough already so I'm keeping this short, tomorrow will be do or die day.... Good luck!

Re: Ramon49\'s post about his L3130!

RayH,
I enjoyed your post on tractor weight/Hp ratios. Before I got my L3130 I seriously looked at the Mahindras. The thing I liked about them was their heavier weight. In line with your post I'm listing a few of their weight/Hp.
C35 Wt 3630lbs Hp35 104lbs/Hp
3510 Wt 3881lbs Hp35 111lbs/Hp
4110 Wt 3969lbs Hp41 97lbs/Hp

It seems most all the Mahindras come in at near 100lbs/Hp yet most all Mahindra owners are pleased with the Hp to weight ratio. In 30Hp tractors 2 models that seem to have a lower weight to Hp ratio are:
JD 790 Wt 1930lbs Hp27 71lbs/Hp
NH Tc30 Wt 2300lbs Hp30 76lbs/Hp
The thing I noticed about reviews on these 2 machines is that owners were pleased with them but often found they needed to add weight and wished the tractor weighed more so it appears around 100lbs/Hp is close to an ideal weight to Hp ratio since it keeps popping up in so many tractor models. It would be interesting to know for sure but when the owners of these lighter models that needed more weight got done ballasting their tractors I'll bet they come in close to 100lbs/Hp. If the L3130 is underpowered then so are a lot of other tractors.

To get the weight to Hp ratio Ramon seems to need he might do better to step up to an L4330 or even better an L4630.
L4330 Wt 3515lbs Hp41 85lbs/Hp
L4630 Wt 3515lbs Hp45 76lbs/Hp

Re: Ramon49\'s post about his L3130!

Or...

The 5030 at 3750lbs and 50 HP = 75lbs/HP

The CAT 994D at 421,600lbs and 1375HP = 306.6 lbs/HP. Of course, this includes the loader which the Kubota does not.

Re: Ramon49\'s post about his L3130!

Rat....The 994D. I think that thing is diesel/electric! Is there a larger machine made....too funny. It's got a locomotive type of transmission.

A CAT 416 TLB is just about 200 / hp. There more to the equation than power to weight ratios...don't you think? Interesting though.

The L39 is coming in right about at 179 / hp.

Re: Ramon49\'s post about his L3130!

In light of this new measure of manhood, I had to change my Signature a little, "100lbs/HP.
It may not measure up well to the compact crowd but Ive got all the commercial/construction guys beat. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yes, but is that PTO hp or engine hp?

Re: Ramon49\'s post about his L3130!

Well, most ag use tractors are ballasted at 110-120 pounds per PTO horse. Engine horse is for advertising, PTO horse is for working.
