Ramps for subcompact

Back in the days when tools were expensive and vehicles had frames,
my el cheapo jackstands where two rims welded together,
one laid flat on the ground and the other upright on that.
They actually worked quite well and where even stable on dirt.

WHY are those so expensive today? I looked for one not too many years ago and the prices were insane. I mean, we're not talking Chevelle SS insane, but still ...

Here's one that's basically stock, but very clean at a stupid $10K:
197 Chevrolet Nova Coupe | eBay

Another that's nothing special other than the low mileage for a nutball $6600: 1971 Chevrolet Nova | eBay

I see several others that are modified for show that are over $20K.

Maybe you should stick to guessing tractor prices.

Good idea, strong and safe but I need to raise car at least a foot. I'm thinking those ramps would work with several 6x6 posts sideways, end and middle.

Tall, skinny ramps scare me. If I need to go higher than my 6" ramps, which is rare, I use the floor jack to get it up higher and then use a couple jack stands.

We've got an LKQ pick your part auto junkyard here and pretty much all fo the cars are put up on those type of rim stands. Seem to be pretty stable.
