Rant on shipping

I quit following this thread a while back. Now I have a complaint about the USPS delivery system. I placed an order eight days ago--ordered it 9 days ago. Being lazy, I had it sent to my PO Box instead of my street address as usual. It has some white chocolate in it. The seller suggested having it delivered overnight, but I figured the weather is cool and the "free" delivery was attractive. Delivery was promised by Saturday. The latest tracking information says the package arrived in Phoenix this morning. That means probably 2 more days, maybe 3, before it is delivered. Lesson learned--UPS delivers more quickly.

Maybe, maybe not. "Free" shipping generally gets sent the cheapest option available, which oddly enough is usually the slowest. I'd imagine this holds true for all carriers.
I haven't noticed any pattern as to what gets here faster between carriers...sometimes it gets here right away, other times not no matter who delivers it.

I put a sign on my doorbell to not ring it when they deliver. Not that I nap during the day, but the dogs go crazy doing the roadrunner thing on the wood floor getting to the door. Hate that.

When we got my wifes chihuahua it had come from a house with a doorbell. Our house at the time did not have a doorbell yet every time she heard a doorbell on TV she ran to and barked at the door all tough like. This went on for 8 years. Then we moved to a house with a doorbell. When the doorbell rang at the new house and someone was actually there, she did not know what to do. So she ran away to the bedroom. Now she has got tough again and goes out and bites their shoestrings. My cattle dog and border collie bark like heck but stay back which is the way I like it.

I like dogs and have a dog,
one of my daughters has a pair of the yapping ankle nipping shoe chewing things.
I don't like them.

I like all dogs. Prior to now I have had a Newfoundland, a Great Dane, a few GSDs, a Eurasier (great dog), a few terriers and probably some I am forgetting.

Same here. We are seeing Prime trucks deliver to the house now, not just UPS and Fedex. Last year on our shared lane (4 houses) we put up the blue reflective signs at the county road and at the Y in the lane, that helps the new drivers. We also have less people looking for another house come down the 1000 foot long lane now.

Prior to that I had my home made house number signage up, but the other 3 did not.

Blue Address Sign Request

If everyone had good and uniform signage, there probably would be fewer delivery problems.
Blue ones here as well. Kitsap county. We received them without asking and they were free originally. Now I see you have to pay for them. BTW... I guess I have to relocate mine. Had on a rock but it apparently got covered with our huge snow while we were south. Neighbor rescued it and propped it up higher. Took me awhile to understand why the sign moved.

One of my Amazon orders coming UPS from KY showed it being in local center for a WEEK. Finally, Amazon said "it's lost" and refunded the amount. Day or two later, I entered the tracking number and it said "Los Angeles, CA". Watched it come back to Memphis, Nashville, and finally local center, where it went out for delivery the next day and I got it. Well traveled raincoat :D
whoops

Amazon in Alabama? voting on labor union..today?

I was in a labor union. I was a strike capt during a strike and I have owned business with employees.

I will let you guys/gals tell me what's right and wrong about labor unions and how it might affect Amazons quick delivery philosophy.
