This won't be a popular solution; yet they could make a dent in that by charging an annual fee for rural mailboxes. I find it odd that I pay 120$/year for a PO box, yet there is a rural box at the end of the PO parking lot which they get free delivery. And how much money do you think USPS will have in that delivery when it finally arrives? They'll probably lose twice as much as they charged for that delivery, hence the 9.5 billion dollar loss last fiscal year.
Yes, I know. We were on RFD 3, but that was a long time ago. Times change, and privatizing it will just make it worse.Do you know what the original RFD stood for?
Rural Free Delivery.
I would tip the Good Samaritan a fin. Here's another... Fedex again, of course.
I finally found a turntable I like on Ebay and placed the order. Today I recieved a notice it was delivered but where? It was nowhere at my house; nor did I recognize the picture of an outhouse with a blurry map. I sent it to a couple of friends, one suggested the map might show a lake about 40 miles away. I was trying to communicate with the AI on Fedex: an exercise in uselessness itself: when the phone rang. My friend was right; the package was delivered about 30 miles from here. Apparently it's common for them to drop it there, and the home owner takes it upon himself to do Fedex's job.
I understand what you are sayingThere is an attrition rate, and sometimes we get unlucky and ours is the package that gets screwed up
30 miles away?!? That's awful! There are definitely some crappy drivers out there. But then again I will see our UPS driver still delivering packages at 730 PM well after dark and feel for the poor guy. That must suck. But that is the job they signed up for.I understand what you are saying
Yet when they are leaving packages 30 or more miles away it's obvious that the driver isn't even trying. Apparently this ia common, based on everything I've been hearing.

Not always as they are sub-contractors. I think the last sub didn't pay well and we got the service to reflect it.... and they make good money!
Does UPS use subcontractors (outside maybe of Christmas rush)? Anything I've ever received shipped UPS was delivered by a guy in a standard brown truck. Not always as they are sub-contractors. I think the last sub didn't pay well and we got the service to reflect it.
New one the guys look happier.
I don't think so, I always see the same 2 guys, for the first 7 years I was here, it was always the same guy, until he retired. Not sure how they do overflow.Does UPS use subcontractors (outside maybe of Christmas rush)? Anything I've ever received shipped UPS was delivered by a guy in a standard brown truck.
Who did you complain to?Our last two Fedex subcontractors were horrible. Leaving stuff everywhere.
Middle of driveway, by the drainage ditch, 200' north of us on the side of the road.
We even lost a few packages, who knows where they went.
I complained a lot, now they have a new subcontractor in the area.
