I don't care about communicating, I do care about physical parts to get jobs done. Everyone is using USPS, and I don't know if I'll have the part in three days, or 6 weeks...

No wonder people can't get equipment repaired. The parts are stuck in shipping

Today I have three packages in limbo. The longest lost, is 20 days since last scan in Indianapolis. USPS doesn’t want to settle a claim, because they know it’s there, somewhere… meanwhile I can’t close up a motor without a couple seals
I just had a package come from Ohio right through Indy and didn't have an issue. In fact, it came two days earlier than expected.

My son did too. Sadly the Indy USPS is in the news due to their shortcomings. I'm not the only one

30 years ago when I first started working for myself, one of my contracts was with Georgia-Pacific, 3 towns away. I gave them a good price because I could turn in an invoice on Tuesday and receive the check in Friday, giving me cash flow.

Occasionally though the scanner would read a "0" in my zip code as an "8", sending it out west and back. Those times always seemed to be when I was going out of town and could use the money.

Several years ago our local post office had two slots for mail local and not. They would hand sort the local and send the rest out to the Albany hub to be sorted and sent out.
Then they stopped doing the local sort but left the slots as they had been but it all went to Albany to be sorted so what used to be next day or the day after went to being 3 days at best often 5 days.
Our "local mail" slot is completely gone. We do have a "misboxed mail" slot for mail put in the wrong PO Box.

Ordered some filters for my tractor from a dealer in Indiana that were shipped Wednesday. After finding out they were shipped USPS and going through Indianapolis sort facility I thought of your problems getting packages delivered. Figured probably 3-4 weeks wait. To my surprise they showed here in TN. today only 1 day later than tracking said they would. Maybe things are improving there at the Indy sort center

I am ordering baby chicks this spring from McMurray's... I had forgotten about it but apparently have a credit there from the last time, when they all arrive dead.

You guys are scaring me.

I did just receive my motocross boots that were shipped in January...
They spent all but two days of that in the Indianapolis facility.

I still have a graphics kit from February 6th there.

I discovered that if I include some ORMD in each order, it ships via UPS, and it's more reliable 😂

I placed 4 different orders on Saturday, it turns out at least one will be coming by each service. It'll be interesting to see which gets here first. Oddly enough, the new welder I ordered is coming through the mail.

That is odd. I would have thought heavy/bulky items were pretty much always shipped thru one of the parcel shippers.

Sounds great! Which welder, and what are your plans for it?

All the best,

Peter

Just a small Lincoln DC unit. I needed something that runs on 120 volts. I have my father's old "Tombstone" AC 225 but don't have a place to plug it in. Last weekend I was down looking at it and discovered that all of the insulation for the leads and plugin have rotted away.

The welder came first, I received that via USPS yesterday. It's a cute little rig, it even came with a shoulder strap so that I can wear it like a hand bag. 😵‍💫 Hopefully it works well, like I've come to expect from Lincoln.

Today UPS delivered the new radiator for my Ferguson. It'll be nice to finally get that running again.
The two smallest items; an electric appliance and a set of house plans; are out there somewhere but neither FedEx or the postal service can tell me where.

ORM-D, which stood for "Other Regulated Materials - Domestic," was a US Department of Transportation designation for limited quantities of hazardous materials, primarily consumer commodities, that presented a limited hazard during transportation. However, this designation was phased out on December 31, 2020, and is no longer used.

USPS OMG is all we can say...This pkg is 8x8x8 by 9 pounds trying to get from S CA to TX. Usually a 3 day delivery. Customer is flabbergasted. I don't blame him. Look at this crazy tracking. It reads from the bottom up. Enjoy.

I ordered some brass 3/4" female pipe thread to 3/4" male garden hose adapters. They have been in transit for a month and not scheduled to deliver unto April 11th. My guess is that they are coming from China. Glad I ordered early.

And how much money do you think USPS will have in that delivery when it finally arrives? They'll probably lose twice as much as they charged for that delivery, hence the 9.5 billion dollar loss last fiscal year.
