Just the kind of cool stuff I love to read about. Great Career, I hope you trained a lot of guys.[/QUOTE
We did a lot of OJT upgrading structural steel welders to certified pipe both stick and TIG. I also taught a class at Long Beach City College while I was working at the Arco refinery for 2.5 years in Carson California.
Back in the 70-80s we did a lot of on site training and training at Baytown's Lee College for any employee wanting to learn a trade in welding, pipefitting, millwright and electrical.
I also did someadvisor training for welders at a school in Warri, Nigeria just a couple years ago. It is nice to be able to pass along your knowledge especially when the folks that are supposedly the trainers dont know correct way of welding. Lots of corruption in Nigeria and if you were in the circle of influence, you got paid to do a job whether you were qualified or not. Those students appreciated someone coming in and showing them how to do it correctly and would call me all the time even after we stopped the consulting at the school because of security issues with travelling to and from. Warri is in a constant state of unrest as is most all of Nigeria so it is somewhat dangerous to travel there even with an armed escort.
