Re-bar Wrapped around axle

Hard to imagine a circular saw getting into the tines deep enough to reach a tightly wound rebar.

I agree with that observation. Wiggling a spinning angle grinder in amongst tines could be an exercise in getting hurt.

I would use a gas axe or a plasma cutter to remove it. Quick and painless.

I sometimes scratch my head at people's suggestions or if people have actually performed that particular operation or are just postulating....

I wrapped an old rotting groundhog around a rototiller. The dog had buried it; I found it. Not physically hard to cut, except for the tears in my eyes and the occasional gag. :licking:

I'd rather deal with the rebar than the Woodchuck

That's funny.

I believe I'd just set the depth control as deep as she'd go and 'till the carcass' into the soil. She might bump around a bit until decemated but at some point, the carcass would be.........dirt.

I think most are suggesting something most households are likely to own. Not everyone owns gas cutting torches or plasma cutters.

If the OP doesn't have a grinder, it's a pretty safe bet that he doesn't have a torch or a plasma cutter. The recip saw will take maybe 10 minutes, the grinder maybe 5. Neither is particularly hazardous even for a novice, if you don't remove the safety shield from the grinder. Since the OP said he owns a recip saw, he probably has some experience with using it. Pay $3 for a good metal cutting blade and go at it.

He's probably finished already in the time it took me to type this.

Since I found some good metal cutting discs for my small grinder my Sawzall only gets used for wood. I even bought a second grinder that stays set-up with a cutting disc...for those jobs that are too far away to reach with the plasma...

I have to say that I consider .045" cutoff wheels to be "consumables." That said, I often find uses for the recipro saw. Access is usually the issue.

Gimme the blue point tool anyday. Besides, you can't light your cigarette (after you are done) with an angle grinder or recip saw... or a Plasma. but you sure can with the Blue Point tool.......:D
