Well.. I've got my pto generator setup.. tractor parked outside house, extension and hookup cables ready.. enough fuel for days of running. I also have a spare battery 12v battery charging, in case I need to use it to jump the tractor, or to run a small inverter that I just finished repairing. i also have a 12v automotive neon drop lamp.. uses almost no power. Flashlights, candles, lamps and oil are ready... I went out and braced up and reinforced the animal pens outside, and picked up any remaining debri. Now I just hope ivan passes florida by.

Good for you, Chris. Ivan will probably miss you now; it's when you aren't prepared that you get hit, isn't it? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This may (most likely is) be a stupid question...

Can your ignition system (distributor) handle the wind driven rain? You are using it on your gas tractor right?

I wish the best for you and the rest of Florida.

I looked on the map to see exactly where you lived. I couldn't believe it.... found Central Florida right away... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Good luck and lets hope that this is the last one of the season and it passes you by....

Good luck with this second storm coming in!

Was by the Home Depot in Sacramento Ca. today. They had a sign up that there were no generators available; all were being shipped to Florida and other parts of the South-East.

They said on the news out here that most people have left thier storm protection in pace, rather than remove and reinstall again.

Sure hope this next one misses you all together, and if so, you have to fire up all the cool stuff and let us know if it would have worked had it been needed.

My prayers are with you guys, hope this one leaves you alone!

So far it is doing ok. The side mounted distribuitor on the late 8n's seals really good. OI have new 8mm wires and boots on.. and well.. they are tight. Cap has a seal as well. I sprayed it all down with wd-40, and so far have had no water problems.

I had though about sliding a grocery bag over it and wire tieing it off. Lots of the guys that trailer their tractors to shows do this to keep the rain out.
