Real men play with unicorns (log splitter)

I saw this on Craigslist and thought about it. Now after reading the other post I think I will stick with my 34ton splitter that works just fine. This is the description the guy put on the add.
This splitter is new on the market(new patent pending)
It is desined to last a lifetime. With a catigory 1 tractor it can split logs as big as 4 ft round and 3 ft long, or more (SEE PICTURES) And most important you dont need to upright, or in any way manhandel the logs. It splits from the bark side. And due to this fact you can split an entire tree from your tractor seat. It can split a 10 ft long,14" round log. The photograph shows a 4 ft round by 3 ft long log that must weigh between 280 pounds to 300 pounds. this setup can transport this log and other heavy logs. And it can also split this log easily into wood stove size logs. And as for cutting logs in the production mode, consider this. If you had a ten foot log and needed to cut this into 16" lengths so they will fit into your wood stove, you could split this ten foot log from the center with this splitter, but do not split it all the way, leave it hinged so that when you cut the lengths you want for your stove with the chain saw, you are cutting 2 already split logs. Now you have just split and cut 16 pieces for your stove with only one splitting action. And because you can lift this log with your post hole digger and the wood splitting auger, simply by screwing down the center of the log just far enough to hold the weight of the log, now you can set the log up out of the dirt.

Watching this video
YouTube - Logging - Sawing and Log Splitting

They don't look too bad. That 30" blade is a heck of a lot faster than a chainsaw. Wouldn't want to work that when I was tired!

Think I'll stick with my little 036 Stihl (26" blade)

The unit mounted on the skid loader looks extremely inefficient to me. I'd take a stationary hydraulic unit any time! Between manuvering (sp?) the loader and the raw time necessary to split the log, I think I'd rather beat my thumb with a hammer.

YouTube - alaskan wood splitters Ok, first I thought the guy only had one arm, but in a bit you can see it's inside his jacket, probably in a sling. I guess the one arm guy gets to work the splitter since you need two arms to get the wood off the splitter. It's one scary setup they've got there.

Missed the wave early on in the video.

If those boys in the redneck splitting video had used half their powder and energy on that stump they were working off of, it would have been out of their yard.

The first video that MrJimi posted. I think I've seen that guy on MTV before. I think he's one of the guys from ZZTop.
Not sure how long he's been using it, but it appears that he has all his hands and fingers.
