Realistically, how many hours can I get out of a BX1500?

Why would you need to change the air in the tires?

I can't see no reason for that really?

There was a competition in the UK a while back where a tractor magazine was asking for people to submit their oldest tires still holding air.

The winner was someone who had owned a grey fergy since new for use on his garden. He didn't ever remember changing the tires and apart from topping the tires up occasionally, the tractor still had 50 something year old air in the tires!

The expected life on a JD 318 Onan gas motor is between 1500 and 2000 hours. The BX1500 engine should last at least twice that if properly maintained.

I don't get the earlier part about a dirty air filter is better? I clean or change my air filters if they remotely look like they are dirty. The Deere dealer is fond of saying"$100,000 John Deere tractor engines get destroyed every year due to dirt getting through the filters" and I believe him. I treat my filters like parachutes. They save the engine. They are also cheap insurance so they get replaced Very frequently on my equipment.
