Donaldson number appears to be P55074 and is 140+ microns. I think this is probably available through Princess Auto here in the great white north eh ( at around 27 loonies)

Napa 1614 apparently works as well for the hydraulic suction filter

The Napa price for the 1614 here is over thirty five bucks! I asked if the metal mesh in there was gold or if the hydraulic fluid was included but the counterman did not seem to think so even though he agreed that the price was steep and was giving me a good discount to get it there

Ok, went to NAPA they didn't have a 1614 (27.00$). Good price I think but they did have a donaldson cross reference for 18.73$ P550274, so I bought two. They fit good and are cheap.

Thanks Yukon
When you can get filters in Whitehorse cheaper than I can find them here, I know I am being violated. Where did you buy them -- or do you run the shop?:D.

I bought my Donaldson P550274's at our local NAPA store. I don't know why they sell Donaldson but they had 9 in stock. I've run her now for about an hour with strangely fast hydraulics, its like it has when new. The only thing I'm maybe worried about is the lack of fine filtration. I'm going to look at putting finer filtration on the return side, as mentioned in earlier posts.

Maybe the way to do it is to put on one of those thirty micron jobs for a short while, being careful not to overtax the hydraulics, then throw it away and put on the strainer. 3RRL,s suggestion is putting a strong magnet on it seems pretty good too. My old Massey has a strainer much like the early Jinmas (in the reservoir) and has a considerable number of hours on the original hydraulics. Seems to work -- nice to have things go up and down without a half hour wait isn't it!
