rear chains do work

i posted a thread awhile ago about how my jd 2520 could not get up my steep hilled driveway with a bit of snow/ice.i bought v-bar ladder chains installed them and tried the hill i could not get up before. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gifwith the chains i dont think the tires even slipped it went up no problem /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gifjust wanted to thank TBN members for the suggestions of chains and type for my situation. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Glad that you are happy with the chains. They are needed on ice and frozen ground.

yeah i even went up the hill in reverse easily.it was a nice feeling /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gifi noticed that they performed better on the ice than in snow.which was what i was looking for.i can move the snow, but not the ice.

It is amazing the difference the chains make. Did you find them hard to install? I would like a set for my tractor, but I am not sure I could get them on easily. I still bear the scars from a slip while installing a set of chains on some 23x10.5x12 garden tractor tires when I was 13. Twenty five stitches and one broken index finger from my father slipping while trying to "torque" the excessively tight chains on while I was pulling at the chain.

this was my first time putting them on it was hard to get the chains tight and lined up.but i might have approached it the wrong way.is there a simple method? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I had to put those on my agri-tires. This was the first winter I had those tires on my tractor. GOing forward was ify at best, reverse was impossible. Like you, I too have a rather steep drive. After installing those V chains on the 26x12x12's, it goes quite easily now through 10" of snow or on ice. What an improvement!!!
