Rear Inverted Snowblowers 2019

I have 2 Meteor PT blowers. A 60" for an asphalt driveway and a 78" for a gravel road. The big difference for my set up between the two is how I adjust the top link. I run the top link "long" on the gravel so i don't pull in debris, especially early in the season. On pavement I run the top link "short" so it cuts down better. Much like how you adjust a box blade. I'm not sure if your skids will prevent any noticeable effect, but it's worth playing with.

MJ,
How are your skid shoes setup? Are they the same as the ops?

By design, the skid shoes are meant to bear the weight of the blower, and in the ops case , they will certainly prevent him from scraping any further as he’d like.

Shortening the top link (with the skid shoes adjusted as they are) will likely make the situation worse, since they are forward of his scraper blade.

In my opinion, based off the photos, it is adjusted perfectly just the way it is. However, it’s not my driveway. :)

I agree with what you are saying and I think I oversimplified my reply. If you go too short or too long with the top link you will raise the cutting edge up because the blower will pivot on the front or rear of the skid. On gravel I want it pitched back slightly so it isn稚 cutting as cleanly. Perfectly flat will give the cutting edge the best chance to cut low. I will lower my blower on the garage floor and tweak the top link to get what appears to be the best 田ut on asphalt. Obviously nothing is perfectly level in the world of driveways and there will always be some snow left behind

I really like these blowers and I made my decision to buy my first one based on kco痴 reviews of his about 8 or 9 years ago

A couple of days ago I got about 7" of heavy wet snow and then it started to rain. Yuck!!!. While I was plowing this stuff, it would just roll off the end of the plow in large blobs or just refuse to slide off. Nasty stuff to plow. I know my rear facing blower would probably not work in this stuff unless I went at a snails pace and kept the RPMs way up. Even then I'm sure it would keep plugging up.

Got me thinking about what you guys with inverted blowers do in circumstances like these.

Wow! 7" is a lot of slush. I had great luck in about 3" of slushy snow with my 60" on a BX 2670 last spring. It's a big PT blower for a subcompact tractor. It threw the slush nicely. I think the relative newness of the blower helped. The paint is still looking perfect running in a suburban environment. Perhaps the biggest reason it throws slush well is that Meteor impellers have 5 blades. I've never used a rear facing snowblower so I can't compare.

Normand hybrid blower that has the augers behind the impeller and designed like a box blade....different.

We just got over 16" of snow overnight and it's still snowing hard. The temps are just below freezing so the snow is pretty heavy.

I'm pretty sure the tractor will go through the snow, since it chained on all 4 wheels but will an inverted blower work in these conditions? Or is that asking too much for this style of blower?

It will work as well as any blower. If you can pull it it will blow!!

Good to know. Sure wish I had one right now.

Guess I'll find out how well reversing using mirrors works.

We are getting the same storm here Hillbilly. I live straight west of Enderby. After seeing your post I measured our snow and see I got 12" of very dense snow overnight. I have a Kioti DK35SE rated at just 28 PTO hp. It has no trouble with dragging my 74" Meteor inverted through such snow. Your tractor is bigger and your chains more aggressive than mine so you should have no trouble.

The most I went through was 27" of snow in 2015 as shown in this post:

https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/snow-removal/328797-snow-your-area.html#post4000516[/URL

After reading your post I went out and did my driveway. I think the weight of the 12" or snow today was more than the 27" in 2015. I had to go slower today than in the 27" when the snow fell at about -5 C. Still, no trouble today but I will be back at it tomorrow as it is still coming down heavily. The Vernon forecast is for around 0 C tonight and then to warm up and continue with snow and rain. We're 800' higher so hopefully it will be snow.

Our power has been out at least a dozen times today from branches getting ripped off the trees. We have had a couple of longer outages but it is back on for now.

It's a lot nicer when it is a bit colder but it is fun either way.

kco - your pics have answered the question about using a rear pull snowblower in deep snow.
