Needing to mount a pair of lights on the rear of my L3410, I know the wire is there but I'm trying to figure out the best place for them. I bought some from the dealer that are rectangle shape with toggle switches for on and off but they won't fit in the hole in the fender without hitting the ROPS. Any ideas?

Joe, how about ubolts around the ROPS, with a flat plate w/90 degree bend to mount to the ubolt, and a hole drilled in the horizontal surface for your light? A strip of wire harness insulation to protect your wiring, and a dual bracket to mount the toggles on in a weather protected area would seem to fit your need. Hope this suggestion is of help.

Hey Joe, Here is what I did for mine. I used this same light on my B2150, B2910 and now the L3010. It's a trapazoid tractor light I got from Farm and Fleet. I think I used an existing hole. I also put little Pilot drving lights on the ROPS. And Pilot fog lights on the grill guard. The illumination is fantastic.

There's been some discussion on this subject in "tractor customization".
I found the wires behind the seat, under the rear sheet metal. If you follow the wireing harness to the rear OEM lights, you should find a female(+12v) and male (grnd) bullet style connector near each fender. 2 sets all total. At least that's the way it is on my 2710.

Brad, how did you mount the lights to the ROP's ? I picked up two about like the ones you have on the grill guard and one large one, I would like to mount the two small ones facing front and the large one facing the rear on top of the ROP's.

JonE, found the connectors, now it's a matter of figuring out how I'm going to mount the lights. I can't see why I can't tap into the ROP's and use small sheet metal screws, but it seems like drilling into the ROP's is a no no?

Joe,
This is kinda fun.
If you have a full moon and your cleaning up that new fallen snow, shut off all your lights and continue to clean up the snow.....yep let the moon be your lights...its kinda relaxing and peaceful...just watch out for the mail box. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Drilling the ROPS, so I'm told, is a no no. So I just went with the tie wrap solution. Well I guess you saw how I did it on my other post in Tractor Customization.

BTW, I can't imagine how a couple of small holes could compromise the integrity of the ROPS! But I'm not taking any chances with liabilaty issues. I mean if my ROPS failed on me and my wife needed to collect on it and couldn't because I "damaged" the ROPS? How would that be?
Extreme scenario but people pick on the smallest things.
Anyhow, the tie wraps work and you can remove it without a scratch if you dont like it. Or just use a huge hose clamp threaded through a mounting plate.

Hi Joe, I mounted the rear light in the sheet metal behind the tool box. There may have been a hole there already.

I mounted the lights on the ROPS with double sticky tape and zip strips. Same for the grill guard. I used black zips for the ROPS and orange zips for the grill guard. This has worked great. I didn't drill in part because I wanted the option of changing the locations if I didn't like them. I mounted three switches on the right fender for all the lights. Drilled the fender for those. They are right where I need them and I don't have to look at them to turn them on and off.

I drilled my ROPS on my old B2150 after the dealer said that two little holes are not going to hurt the ROPS. But I like the zip strip tie wraps better. Hope all this gives you some ideas you may or may not want to use. It's fun to customize a new tractor to just the way you want it!
