Rear main seal leaking?

I have a Kioti LK2552. Its been a work horse.
But today I noticed oil leaking from the starter.
Looking online - it sounds like a leaky rear main seal.
Does that sound correct?

If so, the tractor would need to be split to replace it.

I assume I am looking at $5,000+ to repair??
I am not sure the tractor is worth that.

Any thoughts??

I would be thinking the 2-3k range but you will need a proper diagnosis a quote.

Really what it’s worth isn’t a fixed thing. Does your current tractor meet all of your needs? Do you want to upgrade? Are you happy with it? I can assure you fixing it will be cheaper than buying new, but if you are in the market for a new tractor then it’s not worth fixing.

I have a second tractor that can do everything the kioti can do and more.

So if I decide not to fix it…. How do I get rid of it??? Market place, Craigslist?

What is a 30+ year old tractor that runs but needs work worth????

If it was the lk2544 with a loader it would have no problem selling. I would think you could get $1500 to $2000 for it. Marketplace is probably your best bet. Or if you have a farm auction place close by let them auction it off. Never know may sell for more that way.

Depending on how bad the leak is, it can still be used.....till it starts dribbling out.
With a little cleanup, an auction is a good option to pass it on.
For someone with the tools/workshop replacing a transmission/engine seal is far more doable than for someone who has to pay someone else to fix it.
It all depends on how often/long you use it and what you use it for. Topping up the fluid once and awhile is pretty cheap if it is only used infrequently.
