i think you missunderstood.... The total that was added to my tractor bill when i got it, was $810 for 2. ie 405 each.

Yeah, Steve. I didn't make myself very clear. I think your $405 each is high and $750 each, as some are currently paying, is way high.

My first remote was $250 when I bought my tractor in early 2001. In 2005, I bought two more for $213 each and did the installation myself. The total cost of three remotes on my tractor was $676. I have a smile on my face everytime I look at them.:)

On my new Kioti DK40se the first rear remote was standard and the second cost about $350.

Back when I was looking at tractors in 2001, I looked at a Kioti DK-45. I think it also had a standard electrical outlet near the toplink adapter. I always thought that could come in handy for lots of uses including a hand-held light or small aircompressor and many other 12VDC tools. Since that time, I believe lots of tractors have an outlet installed near the operator's platform. I liked the one I saw on the Kioti especially because of where it was.

The price of metal has certainly gone up but these things weigh less than five or so pounds so unless steel is going for over $50/lb I don't think that is really what is driving the prices up by double what they were a couple of years ago.

Is there an aftermarket company out there making kits for different brands?

I just picked up my rear remote for my TC25D yesterday and it was $500. I did order it from my sales man and not the parts dept. I went through a CaseIH dealer but that should not matter.

I've been thinking of getting a bigger tractor. Maybe it's time to price out a bigger one with all the goodies included.

Well davey4000, you only posted twice. I hope we didn't run you off with all this "remote" talk. What's it gonna be? If you've found that bigger tractor with all the expensive goodies, let us know. Don't keep us in suspense....;)

well Jim, I have been waiting in great anticipation for someone to tell me my dealer was ripping me off and ???? is the place to buy remotes.

It appears the prices I was quoted are right in line with what others are paying considering I might save $150-200 by going through sales instead of the parts department.

I've been wanting a bigger tractor anyway so I think I will start looking. I still haven't decided what...maybe a TC45 or 55, or a Case.

i'm the type who will research forever before deciding. I'm going to start looking this WE. I haven't looked at new tractors in quite a while.

It has been interesting, however, to read about good deals everyone else got on their remotes. The problem is most are yesterday's prices.

The only way to get yesterday's prices is to buy yesterday's tractors (i.e., used). I don't see a lot of good used tractors in my area, but honestly, I don't spend a lot of time looking for used tractors. I just see the tractors that show up on the dealer's lots as I drive by on a daily basis. Also, you won't find anyone yet making bolt-on remotes like the ones the dealers sell, but you could use the power beyond circuits to pipe in your own mult-spool valve like many have done here on TBN. It all depends on how good you are with hydraulics. In the beginning, I used to tell people to not bother since the NH setup was so cheap. Now that CNH is paying stockholder dividends with money from remote sales, I'd say you could easily beat these prices with a DIY solution.

Good idea about using the power beyond and adding a mult-spool valve. I don't know much about hydraulics, but surely between the info here on TBN and other research, I can learn enough to do it. Thanks.

Actually, I ordered a book referred here from another thread, "Schaum's Outline of Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics". It hasn't arrived yet and I hope it's basic enough for me to understand.

I'm still going to look at new tractors this WE though. I suspect after I see the prices of new ones I'll reconsider and start souping up the TC29. It's been good to me and only has 730 hours.

Not all the companies are ripping people off on adding remotes. I thought getting one as part of the standard tractor package plus an extra at $350 was pretty reasonable. That is by itself certainly only one factor in buying a tractor but it is part of the total cost of ownership so is reasonable to consider.

On the used Kioti CK30 that I just bought. It already had one rear remote, dealer installed 2nd one for $390. He said that was the costs for parts, he was throwing the labor in for free since I was buying the tractor.

When I bought my tn75a last year stealer said 600 for parts for 3rd remote on back. I said throw it in, he said no already to low on price of tractor. I gave in and bought without, have not needed it yet. I did put a outlet on my front end loader to run my hydraulic post hole digger and graplle bucket. I looked at the NH one and then bought the same actuator for $250. NH wanted $1100 for the setup. With the cost of actuator and hoses I have about 450 in it. Works great. Looks just like factory setup

I'm betting you don't care, but I find the term "stealer", which you obviously think is trendy or cute, to be highly offensive. I can only hope your dealer personnel hold you in equal regard.

Well sorry, didnt know it would offend you so much. What are you a dealer? I got the impression you were some sort of mobile mechanic. Yeah the dealer leaves a little to be desired sometimes. They are more into catering to the hobby farm bunch. Lately they have been a little better though so guess I should talk better about them. Had a leaky front wheel seal, which I could have replaced myself but its under warranty so let them do it. They got it done in about 3 weeks, which is actually pretty quick for them.

Back to the original post, I think if you can, finding an aftermarket valve is just as good, at least it has worked good in my situation and was by far cheaper.

I must say that the Dealer I deal with is so much more reasonablely priced that the NAPA store for filters, and many times Tractor Supply. Not due always to prices, but for a very slight amount of $ sometimes, they have the part in stock, and offer good advice. In the case of installing my loader remote hoses, dealer had 4000psi high quality industrial hydraulic hose, vs. just plain rubber coverd 3000psi hose from TS. I think each hose was $2 more, and had a heavy textiled outer covering, vs. just plain rubber. Very abrasive resistance dealer hose. I am thrilled to have such a great dealer to support me, and my TC48.:) I just bought another box of tractor goodies from them. :D
