rear remote kit

Hey Buckeye, I have a l5030 and looking for rear remotes. What did you end up buying?
I ordered kubota ones from messicks. not cheap, around $1200 for 2. Rather easy to install. I posted pics on here somewhere (link in post 17). No need to remove tire, just the seat.

I installed the valve support bracket and all 3 levers yesterday. It's a little tricky. When you remove the existing bolts that support the whole fender assembly, the assembly will of course sink a little and necessitate a pry bar, etc., to realign the bolt holes. (Hint - try a ratchet strap). I tried it first with the bracket attached to the valves. Impossible. Even once I got the bracket/fender support holes lined up and the bolts in, I had to loosen the valve assembly mountings to finally get the bracket and valve body holes to line up.

And then getting all six little lever pins and their washers and dainty cotter pins back in their proper place requires a lot of patience. Make sure to do this over concrete or a tarp! A helper is VERY useful!

I got the hoses and rear bulkhead bracket and quick connects mounted yesterday. And reinstalled the lever "cover"/PTO piece. Quite fiddly to get the PTO cable connected right, the PTO electrical connectors connected, and all the levers in their respective slots. AND make sure that nothing will rub or bind.

While moving the levers around, I was unhappy to find that 2 of my 3 valves move very roughly, and I couldn't get them to go into detent. I hope this smooths up once I run it and get them fully filled with hydr fluid.

With six hoses to deal with on the rear connectors it was also challenging to get everything simultaneously in place enough to line up the mounting bolts!

I'm still following along with your install. Did you remove the tire to get access access to the fender bolts?
As far as that lever cover goes, I cut mine out to get access to the valves if I ever need to.I added some tabs to it and then pop riveted it back on.

As far as the installation instructions go, I think they were worthless unless you were installing this on a in the crate tractor without fenders and tires. Not something I will want to do again.

JRobyn,
When and if you get a chance, pics would be great!

I did NOT wind up removing the right tire (as expected) because there WERE NO fender bolts! The big rear factory bracket bolted just to the valve assembly and the axle bell. All very "tight" and tricky to get bolts lined up, but a little patience and some creative prying and everything eventually went together. The installation "pictures" (and sketchy text) actually finally DID make sense to me AFTER I had everything together.

I finger-tight connected all six hoses to the valves, but have now realized that the only way to tighten them is one valve at a time starting from the inside. So 4 will have to come back off. I did not realize just how closely those "ball end" hydraulic hoses have to be aligned to get the collar nut started square!

I'll re-do the hoses and get some pictures if it ever stops raining.

Buckeyefarmer just a posted a couple great pics over in his similar thread. I got a few soggy ones.

Back of the valves. Harder to see than Buckeye's because of the hoses. But you can see what I mean about attempting to tighten those 22mm collar nuts! :mur:

Bulkhead/connectors/bracket. All the holes for everything were pre-drilled and all lined up with some persuation. NOTE: if you let the little dust cover retainer cord get caught around one of the bolts holding all the remotes together, and then tighten said bolt, it will bite through your little cord like it wasn't even there.

Levers and cover reinstalled. Still have to add the knobs.

Uninstalled the 4 outboard hoses, tightened the inside 2 as much as I could get on them, then reinstalled and repeat for the middle and outboard valves. This is where having the right rear wheel off would have been handy. I'm guessing my forearm will be bruised up nicely from being smashed in between the tire and ROPS.

Started her up and - NO LEAKS! I was pleasantly surprised given my inexperience with anything hydraulic. I briefly cycled each valve all the way through it's range, including float/detent. The two rough ones smoothed up nicely. It is obvious that they are all pressuring everything up each way because the hydraulic pump very quickly and audibly goes into relief.

Only one problem - the PTO is not engaging :mur: At least the IntelliPanel says not. I verified that the cable is in place, connected and is actuating the lever on the side of the main transmission casing, so I guess I just reversed the two (identical!) connectors under the lever cover. I had marked them, but weather undid my marking. I had a 50/50 chance!

Because I'm generally an unlucky person I never expect a better than 40/60 chance of success in these situations. :)
