Rear Remotes

Ken's talking about adding 3 rear remotes, but I still admire your agility boomer4snow. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I guess I am alittle confused... I have one remote installed (dealer at purchase for $500). When I asked about the cost of the 2nd and 3rd I was told by the dealer $285 for each of the valves and $215 for a "completion kit" for each (i.e. $500 per remote). I assumed the completion kit was what Pineridge had pictures of in his nice procedure description and valve block was separate....but from the discussion it sounds as tho' you are talking about both for under $300. Where am I missing it? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
thanks much for the help

No completion kit here.

You remove the end plate and stack remote #1, then #2, then #3 and reinstall the end plate once again. I suggest that you save yourself a few bucks and get your remotes from a dealer who knows what you really need.

All the fittings, levers, tubes, and quick connects that you will need are included with each rear remote set. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

SkogenMe, your dealer has found a way to "remotely" remove cash from your pocket. Pineridge is correct. The first remote kit is priced at $250 and the 2nd and 3rd are about $215 each. That doesn't include any installation charge, but it's a simple job.

If I could install remotes for $500 each, I'd retire in a few years as a rich man. That's the equivalent of making about $300 per hour. I know some doctors and lawyers who would quit their practices for a job like that. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I am planning on getting the 1st remote tommorow, the dealer said he would need to order the other 2,

If it wont take long for the other 2 to arrive, I'd wait. As others have said, the installation of the valves themselves is straight forward, it's all the work associated with getting the wheel off and back on, particularly if the tire is filled.

Kevin in my opinion other than repeating the process again it's really not that much more work. I would install one now and opt for the others as they become needed at a later time.

Besides once you do the first you'll then be an expert at adding the second and third.

It really isn't rocket science and the instructions are pretty straightforward.

If you're mechanical you might even have a bit of fun with the project, I know we did.

Heck the pictures took longer to take and process than the actual installation of the 3 rear remotes in our case. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ken, the only "real" additional work for installing #2 & #3 will be removing the tire and the outer cover/seal plate for the remotes. When you add two or three, remotes, NH sends you longer bolts to go through the larger stack of remotes. The bolts that come with the third remote are the ones you'll want to use.

In my opinion, changing the hydraulic fluid and filters is harder than adding remotes. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I went to another dealer today to get some other numbers ....as far as I can tell my "problem" is that a got a tc-48 and not a tc-40! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Looking at the dealer parts book, the 48s remotes do come as two parts while the 40s come complete and the total price (list) is about $500 while for the tc40 it is $225. Pretty strange ...I bet your remotes will put out as much as these. Ah well I guess I will just have to live with my "problem" or trade it in on a tc-40 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...No thanks...It still is a little hard to believe tho'
thanks much for the thoughts

That's embarrassing, are you sure it's a New Holland tractor? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I wouldn't worry to much about it, we all make mistakes.

Just don't be following our advice for installing rear remotes on the Class III Boomer's.
