(Muhammed we need a a topic section for cameras as
they are becoming more important).

This posting relates to my personal experience with
my purchase of a "Peak" brand rear view camera recently.

I started yesterday by buying a few "Ideal" brand lamp
wire gauge wire nuts for the "Wolo" brand back up alarm
and unpacking the camera from the sealed packaging that
I recently purchased.

I removed the numerous items from the packaging and did an
inventory of them as I attached the monitor to the suction cup base, and
opened the small parts bag containing the wire piercing crush connectors and zip ties, various small parts, licence plate camera, two wire lengths with juction connectors for the transmitter and power cord for the monitor.

So anyway I came to the conclusion the "transmitter was missing"
No little box with the miniature rubber duckie antenna "whoopsie"
and I decided I was equally screwed; so its back to autoparts for a
refund today and a system from agparts supply will be ordered today.

Good timing with this thread. I was trying to back a snowmobile trailer into my barn last night and was thinking how much easier it could have been with a camera on a suction mount.

Last week I bought and installed a Peak rear view camera wit 7" monitor in my motor home. I was going to be towing my jeep and wanted to be able to keep an eye on it. I was flat towing with a tow bar and wasnt sure how well it would tow. My motorhome is 34' and the camera is on the license plate and the monitor is on the dash. I am very pleased with the performance. I hooked my camera to the running lights so I could view it all the time just by having the parking lights on. I would recommend this system to any one interested in one. Of course I did get all the parts.

Magnetic - interesting.

Interested in any other recommendations from folks who have "been there done that" and it worked.

I had vibration on the front end of a car and couldn't find it so I duct taped a baby monitor camera to the frame and found the problem within a mile. A-frame rubber bushing was worn out. Don't know if these are cheaper but they are handy sometimes:thumbsup:

I saw a back up cam at our local wal mart that was selling for $50. (close out). I have been thinking that I would like to have a camera to help position my stump grinder....as I operate it from the tractor seat and the stumps / grinder wheel are hard to keep properly positioned.

I like the looks of that magnetic one above too.....lots of stuff to research this winter. Lots of questions: camera mounting, distance from lens to image, reliability due to vibes and dirt, monitor size and mounting.

Do you have any info on the cameras and video switch used in your blog?
That looks like the set up will work for me.

I can not remember the ebay seller for the switch but it was one that looked like this.

I bought one of those to try out, but haven't had the time to install it yet. I will give you a review, but at this rate it may be a few years down the road.

I have the magnetic one - use it for hitching up to the trailer. Works nice. And you would be amazed at the things you come up with where it is handy to use such as troubleshooting something when you have to be too far away when activating it to see it well.

I hadn't thought of that. Good idea. Most of the time I am working by my self.

I posted in other threads about them but I'll post again. There's fixed and moveable cameras. In my case i wanted something with a magnetic mount to easily move around, got one, worked great. Cost was about $200?

Don't plan on driving around with one mounted with the magnet, you'll probably lose it. But for swapping around (I put it on my FEL for example) it works great. The monitor was a little difficult to see in bright sun.

I just wish it was true wireless B to work with my palmtop.
