Rear wheel weights

What I did with my long gone Kubota 5030 cab tractor was, I fabbed up steel cross mounts the attached to the rim lug bolts with a threaded steel rod running in the center and I purchased 'Olympic weight plates off (in my case Facebook Marketplace) but they are on Fleay Bay as well. Olympic weight plates can be had for pennies on the dollar used and I applied a couple hundred pounds of weight plates to each side (which actually rode inside the outer edge of the rim and didn't stick out at all). My 5030 came with stamped centers unlike my current M9's that have cast centers. Adding the weight plates increased each side weight a couple hundred pounds and they rode flush to the outer edge of the rim, an important consideration for me at least so I didn't have to worry about the proud weights catching on anything. When I traded in the 5030, whomever bought it, left them on as I saw it sitting in a local driveway and the weight plates make it look unique.

Recently (this month?) another member mentioned that they find these at thrift shops for a low price

When I bought mine, weights were about a buck a pound. Now they seem to be closer to $1.60.
The cheapest place at that time was Everything Attachments. However, they only sold them in 1000 lb sets which is way more than I needed.

On the M7040 have cast iron hubs, filled tires and cast iron wheel weights. Only added two weights per wheel since the third one was sticking out further than I liked. Also have balast box used at times to off load the front

It's refreshing to read a post that the author actually understands the difference between 3 point ballast and wheel weights.

I still plan on having weight on the three point, just had no traction when I dropped the box blade or rotary mower

I bought weights a few years ago for my L3301. Before I got them using it was like a carnival ride; the rears were constantly in the air. Eventually I will have mine loaded when I buy new tires, but what is on it now are so weather cracked that it isn't worth it.
You can buy the stuff to fill the tires yourself pretty easy. - all in for less than $100

The rear of my Massey was way too light with a load of dirt in it, so I looked into rear wheel weighs, but got scared away by the price. I built a rear 3 point ballast instead that has totally changed the ride and performance of the tractor for the better. The one thing that I like about the ballast over wheel weights is that I can remove the weight easily if I want to trailer it somewhere.

My ford FEL. No PS.. Yet!! Keeping it factory as I can. Finding Fluid in the rears I was skeptical when I found that out. No complaints using R-1 tires. I keep a old International on the 3Pt. for ballast also. Big difference using the FEL.. Only a 5' but it's super heavy. Worst case drain the rears was my thinking if I had to.

You can put one weight on the inside and two on the outside.
