on a side note.. ( yes, I remember the thread. ) most of us know that if we are suposed to be pouring utf oil into a sump.. and we know what the brand normally looks like.. and the stuff coming out is green and about 140wt.. then those of us that are reasonable stop pouring and start draining again!! :)

It may never happen to anyone else but there was a poster on here who wanted a new tractor because he used an aftermarket oil that was suppose to work in his tractor but ended up being the wrong stuff. It messed his tractor up and caused him a lot of problems. I use to buy oils from TSC and such back when I only had one used tractor but once I started buying new and newer modern tractors I realized the price difference isn't really that great to buy OEM branded oils and if you get a problem that is oil related you have a lot more support as the OEM can't say you used the wrong oil.

I agree but as you know there are a lot of people on here that don't know better and would dump an oil in without knowing any better or even realizing the difference.

I've got 330+ hrs. on my TC-29 and have done all the service myself, I have changed the oil, grease, filters, hyd. fluid and filters and by the way Tractor Supply sells a hyd. fluid that is the same as what New Holland sells and it is much cheaper ..about 2 mos. ago I paid $48.00 for 5 gal and bought 2 so that $96.00 ..total .If you price New Holland Hyd. oil it will be several hundered dollars so be careful there. anyway, all of the routine service I do and I have a tractor repair place close by that repairs all makes and I have known the owner for many years. The NH dealer here is about 16 Miles from me and has already told me if I ever needed to have it brought in it would be $200.00..but I have a friend with a trailer that would handle my tractor..so if you ever need to take it anywhere ask around and find someone that will take it to the dealer and when it's ready bring it back for a lot less..I am thrifty...this NH dealer close to me is very high so I buy what I need from Messicks.

Uhhh...... I bought 5 gal pails of NH hydro fluid for $61 a pail from my dealer. There's no way that I would ever substitute an unknown fluid to save $13 a pail!
If you buy from Messick, do you realize that he charges $55.86 a 5 gal pail for NH G134 hydro oil?

ok, you missed my reasoning for using NH oil. New Holland puts their name on it and guarantees it will work. If they sell you some bad oil they will be on the hook for it.

Now if I buy oil from TSC and I get some bad oil that messes up my pump do you think New Holland will do anything to help me fix my tractor?

Unless said tractor is under warranty.. No.. I don't think NH would do a thing to help their oil and filters or not. IMHO.

13$ a pail ain't much if you need 1 pail.

If you need say... 15 pails.. then.. well.. it's a quite a bit of expense... I'm pretty sure next year when i do maintenance.. I'll be buying drums not pails..

I will have to disagree, that was the entire theme of the other thread, he wanted the tractor company to fix his tractor and everyone told him he had to go thru the oil company to get anywhere. I do believe if NH sold some bad oil and you could prove it they would take care of the problem. The last thing they would want to do is have a lawsuit or people telling others that NH oil is junk and will ruin their tractors.

I know you buy your oil from TSC or someplace similar and I don't have a problem with that. I use to but when I started buying new/newer tractors I changed my thinking as to what oils and filters I put in and on my tractors. Like I said in another post on here, I try to buy all my fluids and filters when my dealers are having their open house or any spring or fall sales as they usually give 10-20% discounts on parts bought those days/week.

First I posted I bought the Hyd. fluid at Tractor Supply, Second my local NH dealer wanted $300 for what I paid $96 for....big difference and third before buying the Hyd fluid at Tractor Supply I did my research and found that various municipalities used the Tractor Supply fluid for their New Holland equipment and Forth I checked with the service manager at the NH dealer and he agreed the Tractor Supply Hyd. Fluid was fine. I buy OEM oil filters, in fact all OEM filters since there can be a significant difference there. Each to his own but I agree with Soundguy..if it is out of warranty I hope you don't really believe NH is going to help you no matter what kind of fluid you use. Do not forget NH dealers are all independent business owners and some are good and fair and some are not...the one closest to me is not but the one about 90 miles away from me is....and I do not buy fluids from Messicks.:)

I simply don't believe it... I've had first-hand experince with the Nh warranty system of a few occasions.

I've done business with my dealer for a long time.. bought multiple tractors from him.. and many parts.. still buy 90% of my filters and gaskets and seals/orings.. and small bolt on maintenance parts there. He knows i get my oil from tsc or walmart. When my machines were in warranty.. he had no problems fixing things that were broke.. even fixed something -I- broke.. ( pto shield on rear of tractor ).

However.. after warranty.. I could pay to have anything I wanted fixed.. and that was that. I had owned my 7610s for about a year when i switched from a fixed 10' deck mower to a 15' batwing that needed 2 remotes. My tractor had 2 remotes fromt he factory as standard equipment, so no problem.. except one did not work. I posted here about it and got alot of troubleshooting advice.. after removing it a couple times.. having it re oringed, and still nada.. I finally had the tractor in for service and it was repaired via swaped parts from a salvage machine they had on the lot. That in itself saved me half the cost of the repair vs buying the parts new.. I really appreciated that. As for the old remote pack.. i still wanked to find out the problem. Finally got it tore down and found that it was a manufactuers defect in a passageway.. deffinately not damage but a true machining issue when it was assembled. sounds like a case for a warranty issue for me right? not int he least... machine was then a few months out of warranty and the dealer said a 'snowball' in a 'real hot place' would have a better chance.. etc..

Incedentally.. the rest of my hyd system was in A-1 tip top shape. i had them inspect it and re- oring a few things just because we had found that problem.. and I had wondered if tsc oil had done it.. and was assured that it was not a lube issue, rest of the system was hunkey dorey and clean and up to spec dead on on relief and flow rate and pump flow rates as they should be.

That's why I'm doubtfull of NH going out of their way to warranty a machine out of warranty.... just my personal experience of near 1000$ worth of repairs...

I'd probably look real close at the fine print on that oil.. might claim that any damages related to use are limited to replacement of oil or refund.... lotsa people add that nice one to stave off damage litigation. Not having bought dealer oil for some time I don't know if their jugs carry that type of legaleze or not.. just a possibility.

That said.. I still like my blue machines...

Chris, do you remember the common theme to that other thread? Everyone said the OP had to contact the oil manufacter to get any help with the repair. I still believe if you have a problem that is oil related NH is going to be more willing to help fix the problem if it was their oil then some other brand. I am not saying and I don't recall ever having said in the past that by using OEM oil it will automatically make them do any work. My thoughts is that you have less chance of having potential warranty issues and if you do have bad oil from the OEM it should be easier to get results if you are using the OEM's oil in their own tractor.

Basically, if your going to try and get someone to pay for the damage it will help if the oil is OEM.

One point to make.. CNH is not the maker of the oil. Perhaps we need to hear a shop opinion on this.

Rick.. any comments on a failure and warranty issue on a machine otherwise out of warranty, but using oem oils?
