I don't know about engine related issues, but my tractor was out of warranty by about a year. The seat mount broke. I e-mailed NH. They immediately called the dealer and arranged for him to fix the tractor and they would pay for it. So I wouldn't say that once the warranty has expired CNH will never cover a warranty, but I'm proably the exception and not the rule. I was very pleased NH and the dealer stepped up to the plate and resolved my issue quickly. Haven't had a problem with it in the 4 years since.
