Hoye sells used parts and parts tractors motors. Call them up or send an email and see what they have. You may be able to fit a slightly larger engine off a different tractor as well.

Call or email Hoye Tractor Company in Texas.

Google used yanmar parts and you can pick up numerous dealers. user bmaverick posted a list at one time but I can't find it. Maybe he will come along and post it again.

I think you need to stay with the original block so the tractor is structurally sound. And that reefer engine likely has little sale value so sacrificing it to scrounge parts, you won't be out much. But this assumes its parts are compatible. Verify before removing anything.

I think you would be better off buying another complete engine that fits the YM135 and starting from there. I definitely wouldn't try to shoehorn in the reefer engine to create a Frankensteinmar ....

I received the parts from the original block that were missing so a rebuild is looking very viable.

Welcome! My vote would be to keep it original IF possible. It will for sure make it easier to sell down the road if you decide to & you should recoup most if not all of your investment. Keep us posted!

I think I have everything except for one push rod, which isn't the end of the world. Time to start taking measurements to see what I'll need for this rebuild. I'm thinking I'll make a build thread for it.

I like that idea.

yes, build thread please. we all learn a lot from that and can help brainstorm if you find something you have a question about

Voting for the build thread as well, cannot beat visual learning (some of us need all the help we can get :) )

I'm sure it will be an adventure for us all. The motor was not disassembled by me so the orientations are unknown but I should be able to figure it out. I have this other 2cyl yanmar here if needed it can be disassembled for some hints, and who knows maybe it has the 165mm pushrod I need in it.
