Recall Notice for BX series

/ Recall Notice for BX series #11
My dealer actually called me about it. The way he explained it is that it has a small bracket to keep the seat from falling off if the R-shaped pin that retains the seat were to come out. He said it's a 5 minute job that anyone could do themselves. Don't know whether I'll do it or not, as I take off the seat to clean the tractor up...but I'm probably the only guy on the planet that does this, so everyone else will probably want to take care of this...

Talked to my dealer again, he said Kubota usually pays him to pick up tractor for recall items. Sounds like he is going to pick up my BX-24 and fix the recall item as well as replace my digital tach. I hope it won't be gone for long, but I'm very glad they are going to take care of it all for me.

That is my question....do they come get it since it is mandatory recall

I got my recall - and FYI - the dealer came to my and replaced the tach right there in about 5 minutes... now, there is a good and bad to that...
Good - your tractor is new again with 0 hours
Bad - since it reads 0 hours - you need to recall where you were at (hard with a blown hour meter) and then always add that number in for your service intervals...

You've had tach issues too, huh? That is at least 3 of us that I know of. Mine is occasionally blank on startup, as are the temp and fuel guages.

I too had a bad tach on my BX24. The dealer came out and replaced it at no charge, but it is a pain to have to always add on the pre-replacement hours. Is there any way of adjusting the hours without running the tractor?

Took the BX 24 in yesterday for the 50 hour service and have the recall satisfied.

The service manager was unaware of the recall issue but promised to follow up while the service was being performed. When I returned an hour later he showed me the printout of the kit to perform the fix. Some tractor seat brackets already have the two necessary 10mm holes to accommodate the part which was the case with my tractor. Others may not be so lucky. In their case the seat will have to be removed to drill the holes. We both agreed it would be easiest if he just sent me the part when he receives it.

I looked at the seat bracket and must admit to being mystified as to the functionality of the part. Someplace along the line, a Great Kahuna decided this was a safety issue and a recall was mandatory. This, as opposed to the cracked fenders which are not safety related, ergo, no recall.

The dealer just picked up my BX 1850 for the cracked fender yesterday. First thing he noticed were how all the stickers pealed off…

They are aware of the switch problem but do not have the replacement parts. The problem is that the switch did not always shut the machine off if you got up off the seat with the PTO engaged. That is a serious safety problem. No one has been hurt and they are fixing that problem first.

I suggested to Kubota as well as the dealer that a more serious issue may be the sudden and violent jerking of the transmission when you let off reverse. If you are backing up on a steep hill and not at a perpendicular angle (gophers can create this scenario) then a sudden jerk can create tortional pull that can try to flip the tractor over. I have several spots on my property that I offered to demonstrate to the dealer just what a problem this may be. It becomes greater concern if you are tired, have a beer or two, or some one new working the machine.

We will see how Kubota responds to that complaint. The dealer saw it immediately as a serious issue.
