Anyone see a receiver hitch attached to the frame of dump bed instead of truck frame? When the bed tilts so does the hitch. Should it be removed from bed and attached to frame?
Thanks,

I don't get the question, more details needed.

The receiver hitch is welded to the frame of the dump bed, not the frame of the truck. When you raise the dump bed the hitch moves with the dump bed. So if you leave the hitch in the receiver it will actually hit the ground if you raise the bed high enough.

I would definitely change that. I saw an accident on the highway because of that type of hitch set-up. Between the tongue weight of the trailer and the wind force on the cab protector, the bed lifted up enough to start bouncing the tongue of the trailer on the highway. The unlucky driver lost control and ended up in the ditch alongside the highway.

depends, the hitch maybe mounted on the bed because of room. If the hitch were mounted to the frame it might have to be brought back to where it would still be in the way. Are you positive the hitch hits the ground when dumped{level fround}. Got a picture?

To answer your question, no. I've never seen anything like that.

Maybe for a an offroad farm specific application, but not for an over the road set up. Not a big deal that the hitch may hit the ground sometimes, they get pretty beat up anyway on the back of trucks. Just doesn't seem like the most secure way to tow a trailer.

Maybe it could be used without sure disaster, but I wonder if it would pass inspection and be legaal?

If you plan on towing a trailer with it either :
1. Secure the front of the bed to the frame so it CANT dump
2. Move the hitch to the frame

And it the insert hits the ground when dumped, take it out:confused2:

And if the trailer is still hooked up, take it off before you dump:D
