Reconditioned tractors

Dont even see the clips to hold the links on lol
Well to be fair to these guys, the pins aren't installed because the tractor is still in as-shipped configuration with peripheral parts strapped on so they won't get lost.

However - those upper pins pointing inward were put that way during 'factory reconditioning' and illustrate that whoever did that reconditioning step had no idea what he was doing. Replacing the pins indicates the original ones showed extreme wear, no? I wonder if the related hydraulic components got 'reconditioned'.

I think real reconditioning would include lubing the ball ends. All I see there is rust.

Am I correct that the bolted end of those pins is tapered and intended to be a press fit? If so, whoever turns them the right way is going to need a gear puller to get them out, and they might always be loose thereafter.

I agree with tcreely, any of these might make a good starting point for an owner not afraid to really recondition whatever needs attention. But I think the dealer is misrepresenting them with any inference that they are 'good as new'. They average 30 years old, and may have sat in a scrapyard for years before the reconditioners started on them.

Here's a photo my cousin took in VN a couple of years ago. Looks like this guy has enough spare parts to fix anything. How do we know the VN refurbs sold here aren't cobbled together out of parts like this, before that fabulous paint job goes on?

[I posted several similar photos in this 2012 thread, along with my cousin's comments.]

This is a straight pin Hoye shows for the 1510. Yanmar Tractor Parts ADAPTER PIN - CAT. 1_ Just wondering if the pins could be turned that way for shipping or do the lift arms come loose in the crate?:confused3:

Have at it. Let us know what it cost to hire someone go through it and fix it, when something goes wrong

Who knows, but Northern Tool sells a 49 hp with FEL for $20000. This is 12,300 for 40 hp, and it is a yanmar. If I had cash to play with, or was a mechanic it might be a good deal. Tractorhouse gives me nothing in that range dollar wise -used except 23hp.

Fun to speculate- that's all it is!

Northern Tool used to carry reconditioned Yanmar skidsteers and small excavators some years back, but they looked used- no new paint!

Not for me,, 12 K for a 35 yr old tractor that may have a cracked block, etc, with a shoddy repair Performed in VN just to get the tractor running and sold. You can buy a lot newer tractor for a few more bucks that wasn't reconditioned in VN with who knows what parts were used inside the engine. If you choose to purchase 1, I wish you the best. Now , It's a different story If someone like Fredricks had referbed this tractor for this price

Is that a 35 year old tractor? I didn't know that. I've never seen a Yanmar in person.

The FX335 was manufactured 1987 through 1992, so 22 to 27 years old. My 2002d is about 32 years old. Many of the older YM greys are 35 years old.

It's hard (if not impossible) to find the exact date these tractors were built. You will only find they were made between xxx & xxx dates...Some guys here have bought a VN recon and had pretty good luck with them . For others ,they have been nightmares .. There use to be yanmar dealers that were regulars on this sight. They have said that the best tractors were bought by dealers, the junk yanmars went to VN to be refurbished With parts from who knows where. That's why I said if you knew who refurbed this tractor it would possibly be a good buy for that price. I have about 12k tied up in my tractor after I added loader, But I bought my tractor from an importer that refurbishes and has a large parts selection for these tractors

My point exactly. these VN refurbs are priced comparable to or higher than Fredricks' tractors.

Remember checking out refurbs from EFC in washington before buying my ford 3000 and then my 554 chinese Rhino. Have about $8 k in the Rhino and that includes a USA FEL and grapple. it also weighs in at about 7200lbs and is 50+ hp.

They used to have pictures on the site showing some of the tractors headed to Vietnam for refurb, Usually what was left over- after the nice ones went to the better quality non VN refurbers.

Talk about sorry looking machines, there was a burned one and even it was headed for a VN refurb..

They always get nice shiny paint and a brand new hour meter:laughing:

There are new Yanmar 32hp 4x4 fel hydro machines for a just under $17000 or 45 hp gear models for 19.5k with full warranty at some dealers
I know prices vary by location but...

The price for that refurb just seems to high.

Take a look at my sig photo at the bottom of this post. Both are US version Yanmars. About 1980 and 1983 so over 30 years old.

I expect the used Yanmars bought by the VN reconditioners look at least this thrashed, pre-repaint.
