Red Wing Boots

I've had a couple pairs of Redwing boots and went from a huge fan of them, to not too impressed anymore with the last pair I bought. I wont buy another pair, this last pair of boots didn't hold up very well at all. I haven't found another brand that I'm wanting to spend the money on, so it's been sneakers and day hikers.

I just checked my 5 pair of Red Wings and they all say "made in USA". I also have a pair of Masons that were USA made too.

I have been disappointed with my Redwings. The boots are not very comfortable and the eyelets are not crimped up properly and I can't get laces to last more than a month. I had a pair of Wolverines that I bought 15 years ago, really liked them, bought the Redwings to replace them as Wolverine no longer makes that model and it is hard to find the brand in my area. So I am watching this thread for ideas.

Got my made in America Danners today. Slid right on and fit perfectly. Boy are they nice boots. Good bye Red Wings and lousy cutomer service.

I liked how the older RW's would fit but, the newer ones not so much.

One thing about Red Wings that ticks me off is replacement laces. I cannot get the same laces that come from the factory at the Red Wing store. This thread got me thinking, I wrote to their customer service department. Guess what, only way to get the same laces is with a new pair of boots. They say they're not available. The replacement laces are awful.

I usually go through 3-4 laces each on a pair of boots. I was also disappointed with the Red Wing replacements. Don't like that you can buy better replacement laces at Walmart than the Red Wing store.
