That thing looks like a moonshine still.
Maybe you could start a new business?

LOL, you're not the first to say that.

Didn't get a chance to upload the pics, but I trialed oil last night. Worked so so. It was smokey, and improved a little once I placed a box fan in front of the open door. So I'll open up the 6" pipe for more air and re-try another day. That and/or build a "funnel" for the fan to direct the air a little better. I do think I sooted up the copper coil. My outlet temp kept dropping despite the stack temp staying in range. I'll open the top tonight and have a look before putting a wood fire in. It was heating very well at first putting out a steady 55deg C. Now, this may be due to the new diffuser plate just as much as the fuel change. I burned about 2/3 of a bucket over 3 hours. Gained a solid degree pool temp. We'll see what wood fire does tonight.

I'm kind of wondering if I should have wrapped the copper around the outside of the barrel then insulated. That way it would stay clean for better heat transfer. The thin wall of the barrel wouldn't prevent much transfer I don't think. Maybe version 4.0 :)

Had a wood fire in it last night. It seems the baffle made a significant difference! 5-10 deg better output.

LOL

So here's heating the oil burner with kerosene

Introduced some motor oil. It did speed up after taking this pic

The side feed tube didn't work. It started to smolder once hot and actually started shooting flames.
This was my temp solution

View with the box fan... still some modifications to make to the 6" pipe.

Looks like rain this evening, so I'll hold off burning until morning. I did get some goodies from work today... so keep watching :)

I was lucky enough to get some insulating contractors make me a blanket for the top of the barrel. I'll have to cut another slot for the outlet. No biggie

Found another old blanket that we'd thrown out anyway... bad idea trying to put it on hot. LOL I'll do a better job later.

Also scrounged a length of 6X2"

Cladding to come later. Also working on a bigger door. Keeping a steady 60deg output now without too much stoking. Used to be 45. Small changes are making a significant difference. :)

Going on 5 hours of burning and gained 4deg in the pool. 22-26 :)
